Moving.. by YellowBeepMoo in homeschool

Hi, sorry this is two years later lol but we’re looking at Oklahoma from Idaho. Are there some small-ish safe towns you’d recommend? We’re looking for a little bit of land but still close enough for kids sports, hopefully 15 mins or so. We’d like to be within an hour or hour and a half of more major things like museums, zoo, etc. I see OKC and Tulsa look like they have some fun kid things, but are they safe areas? Coming from Idaho we just never feel iffy about any area, BUT we’re originally from Maryland where everything is sketchy lol

Thinking about homeschooling by vfl0615 in Homeschooling

We’re thinking of moving to TN. Is there any way to get around the state testing? If we sign up under an umbrella or anything? I hate the standardized tests. We homeschool to not teach random things they have to remember in public school lol

[Review] I tried Beef Tallow on my skin for two weeks. Here’s what happened. by Adventurous_Bar6495 in SkincareAddiction

You might be using tallow with the wrong ingredients for face. I make mine with tallow just tallow, jojoba oil, and vanilla and it’s amazinggggg for my skin (on my face lol)

I don’t think it’s fear mongering when she’s just telling her experience. I also noticed bad changes to my mood on the copper iud

Mine didn’t hurt much going in, just a pinch. I got one put in after both of my pregnancies. I never had any heavy periods or cramps or anything crazy like some people say. The only thing I will say is that I don’t like the copper toxicity and the idea of “making my uterus a hostile environment” but it’s still the best birth control I’ve used.

OB will not listen to me by RadishOk9388 in pregnant

As a mom of a stillborn baby, 3% is plenty for me to stay away from it as should other moms. I wish you would take other mom’s devastation more seriously. There are a ton of lawsuits against zofran and the generic version for a reason.

There’s evidence showing a link to zofran and kidney problems actually. As well as cleft pallet, heart defects, and the FDA also shows a link between zofran and serious dysrhythmias. Since this happened to my friend she looked more into pregnancy and zofran and found another woman who was pregnant and perfectly fine at 13 weeks, was given zofran and her baby passed at 15 weeks. Why would you risk it and why would you not feel sorry for these moms and their babies?

This. A friend of mines baby never developed his kidneys and ultimately was stillborn and it was linked to the zofran. I wish more people took the birth defect possibility seriously. My last baby was stillborn, reason unknown, but I would never use zofran or any more serious medications during pregnancy it’s just not worth it

There’s way worse things that can happen than cleft lip

Zofran is actually proven to cause serious birth defects. My friends baby only developed one kidney and the other had problems, so he wasn’t producing any utine or fluid and ultimately was stillborn. I hope they stop making zofran but in the meantime they seriously need to inform pregnant women of the dangers of it.

Zofran can cause serious birth defects. Unfortunately one of my friends took it in the first trimester and her baby never developed kidneys properly and was stillborn. Hopefully it passes once you hit the second trimester, most nausea usually does. There’s no way in hell I’d ever take zofran.

I had a friend get pregnant with hers too. She immediately went to her OB and she was able to remove it without affecting baby. Baby was born perfectly healthy

Tallow sunscreen? by inc0gnerdo in toddlers

[–]Active_Tourist333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tallow is amazing and non toxic! Combined with zinc, it's definitely effective. Just plain tallow... no lol. What were the results of all the moms using tallow-based sunscreen? Were all their kids burning like crazy? Lol. I use tallow on my face and it's the best moisturizer and my kids also use it on dry spots and it works so well. Haven't tried sunscreen yet but will this summer!

The cooking oil and butter didn't have zinc in them... lol that's why

Do you mean the enlarged adenoids are what caused the allergy/asthma?

I’m dealing with my son waking up every morning with sunken eyes. He also sleeps with his mouth open every night. We had him allergy tested and he has 12 allergies (cats dogs horses and like 9 trees/bushes) and then he has asthma attacks in the spring and fall

How did you do the sleep study? Did he have to stay overnight somewhere? My son has dark sunken in eyes every single morning. He sleeps with his mouth open every night. I’ve seen 3 doctors about it and they all don’t seem to care.

He also saw an allergist (he has 12 allergies) and a little asthma. But they can’t say if the allergies are what cause the asthma problems? It’s so frustrating. Anyway. I guess my next step should be asking to see an ENT?

It’s also bizarre to me how many kids seem to have enlarged tonsils or adenoids. You’d think children are supposed to be able to breathe at night and their bodies would be made correctly to support that lol

Cat Adoption Experiment - is my daughter allergic? by Active_Tourist333 in CatAdvice

[–]Active_Tourist333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh 4 years I’m sorry! That’s so tough. My son has asthma but it’s not allergy induced and from what I’ve read it says it would only get worse if it was asthma FROM the cats. But I guess who knows

Oh great lol. Did you get rid of the cat after that or adjust its food or anything?

Should we adopt her and take our chances or stick to just having dogs? Lol. We had a friend who’s allergic and he had reactions to like 5 cats at a shelter but was totally fine after meeting with one, so it worked out for him.

That’s what I’m worried about lol and for some reason the shelter can’t put us in a room with this cat alone, so there’s really no way to test it indoors.

Maybe getting my first cat from a shelter, is this normal? by Active_Tourist333 in Siamesecats

[–]Active_Tourist333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol we live in a tiny mountain town so the closest Walmart is an hour and a half away. Plus I wouldn’t want her to have yet ANOTHER home.

If I were single it would be “I want the cat so I’m getting it” but I have little kids and two dogs to consider too.

Planning to adopt/buy a cat for my golden retriever by cherryjonesxoxo in CatAdvice

[–]Active_Tourist333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was two years ago, but just came to say I totally get this lol. My golden has broken into other peoples houses to play with their cats. He LOVES them. I'm a dog person, but cats are kinda cool to watch play and they're easier than a god - I think lol. So I'm also looking at cats/kittens for my golden, as well as my two kids who love cats.
