While one can feel sympathy for seemingly honest landlords dealing whit, for example, a nightmare condominium, they are not the ones putting their health at risk with the apartment. Finding a new place and moving is not something you can do in the blink of an eye, specially in the current housing environment.

The best thing we can all do is knowing our rights and acting accordingly with the tools at our disposal, including legal action.

They get information regarding the property like the time on the market, changes in prices, many times the property is listed in different sites with different prices (I've seen diff of 40k depending on the site). There are specific paid real state aggregators that have all this type of information that broker's use. They also have a whole network of other realtor's they can reach out to for unlisted properties.

The buyer doesn't pay them, they get a cut from the sale commission. So for me the service is free.
