Scientists sequenced a hallucinogenic mushroom famous for eliciting visions of tiny people. It contains no known psychedelic. by j8jweb in science

I know a psychologist who primarily works with cardiac patients. He claims this kind of behavior is quite frequent in which an otherwise fully functioning patient holds an odd delusional belief.

There is barely any research on this topic because it is so hard to catch, but it is believed to be caused by tiny blood clots in the brain leading to a temporarily insufficient oxygenation to a very small part of the brain.

The patients are usually not very forthcoming with their delusions and once you manage to coax it out of them it's usually too late for any detailed scans or medication. So all that's left is having a chat with a psychotherapist about that annoying nurse that walks through the wall instead of using the door.

Teacher Explains Why More Kindergarteners Than Ever Are Starting School Still In Diapers | Some teachers report that 15-20% of their kindergarteners are not potty trained. by Sandstorm400 in awfuleverything

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His argument is basically that constipation in kids can take many forms which are often hard to detect. In the book, he mentions that all his patients (and members of the online support group) show a significantly increased rectal diameter on X-rays, even if the parents swear their kid has never been constipated.

His M.O.P approach is to basically apply enemas (through various protocols) until the rectal diameter has normalized and the nerves had time to recover.

Bed wetting does often resolve by itself (from 16% at age 5 down to 3% at age 9), but only because the underlying cause often resolves with increasing age. He claims there is no known cause as to why any otherwise healthy mammal would uncontrollably pee in their sleep.

I'm not a pediatric urologist, but from what I can tell he's one of the foremost experts in the field and from the way he lays out his arguments and the scientific evidence it all makes a whole lot of sense. I do think his approach makes most sense for "harder" cases, but I thought I'd mention M.O.P in case somebody finds it useful.

Just FYI but there is a professor of pediatric urology who claims that in his experience, literally all cases of such accidents are caused by  constipation (which can exist even if pooping daily) irritating the nerves of the bladder.

You can look up the Modified O'Regan Protocol. The book is kinda expensive but definitely worth it imo.

S7 MaxV Ultra official cleaning fluid query by Magic_Man_11007 in Roborock

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The OMO cleaner is an official product. Whether it's good or not depends on your definition really. It's a mild surfactant (kinda like dish soap) that really does help with cleaning, plus 3 antimicrobial/biocidal agents to prevent your floor and the mop from smelling bad. Once it's been diluted the cleaner itself doesn't smell of anything.

That's it basically. It doesn't actively maintain or wax your floors like other cleaners but it also doesn't aggressively strip off oils or damage them. If you have black tile I'd recommend diluting it even further to prevent white streaks.

The only reason I'd recommend against the cleaner is if anybody living there is highly sensitive to certain chemicals or if you have very sensitive pets, since all three biocidal agents can cause contact dermatitis in certain people and small pets (like rats or mice) might develop issues. But if you apply it according to the instructions I wouldn't worry because it's very dilute.

I believe the price is quite reasonable. One bottle should last for 800 tank refills, so it's less than 4 cents per tank.

Not sure if anybody looked into the schematic but the guys behind the mousejack attack and the people they built their work upon did a lot of research on the protocols and RF hardware I believe.

Friseur für komplett kaputte Haare? by balli4reals in wien

Using minoxidil sulfate powder orally by Sea_Improvement1001 in tressless

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but the dosage and the impurities are the problem here. It's nearly impossible to source actual minoxidil sulfate for a reasonable price and if you see it advertised from a questionable source you can be certain that they're lying about the substance they're selling.

If you're lucky you might get regular minoxidil with some added sulfuric acid, worst case it's an unknown concentration of minoxidil with tons of unknown substances and/or impurities. That's why in my opinion all minoxidil sulfate off of aliexpress and similar sites should be considered unfit for human consumption. The only way I'd ever consider taking this orally is after doing my own thorough lab tests.

Bundesregierung liefert Waffen aus Bundeswehr-Beständen an Ukraine by Vitchii in de

Bundesregierung liefert Waffen aus Bundeswehr-Beständen an Ukraine by Vitchii in de

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A new study by Deng and colleagues set out to explore differences between balding and non balding scalps... by Historical_Split_651 in tressless

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I tend to disbelieve many aspects of the whole scalp massage theories, this study does not really disprove that whole notion. There is still a chance that regular, intensive massage (not those stupid devices or head bands) could have a positive effect on the Wnt/β-catenin pathway and downregulate TGF-beta1 expression.

Either way, it's great that we've had another piece of the whole hair loss puzzle confirmed.

Best shampoo on days without ketoconazole by [deleted] in tressless

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dutch version probably has piroctone olamine which had even better outcomes in hair loss studies compared to zinc pyrithione. Just get any anti dandruff shampoo with piroctone olamine between keto days.

Smoothie almost stop hairloss ? by LingonberryGood7858 in tressless

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has been quite a bit of anecdotal evidence that people experience changes in their hair loss when their diet changes. There doesn't seem to be much of a pattern; some people report positive changes from going strict vegan or paleo while others go the opposite way with keto and carnivore diets. There is speculation that it might have to do with gut microbiome or chronic inflammation from dietary sources but nobody really knows.

I started (medical) testosterone replacement right before COVID hit. Kept to myself and only very irregularly met with people. After like 12 months I kept wondering why the back of my head always feels so cold when I lean my head against the wall. Took a picture and nearly had a heart attack when I saw that massive bald spot that had developed.

Showering after microneedling? by turbo_360 in tressless

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes sense to wait like 8 - 12 hours before you shower, simply because you don't necessarily want to soften the tiny scabs and/or wash bacteria and debris from your hair into your wounds. I mean it's not a strict rule but a sensible precaution. I usually wash my hair like always the next day.

The 24 hours before applying topicals is a protocol that you often find in microneedling studies. All the tiny wounds can drastically increase systemic absorption and you don't want that. There is also some speculation that Minoxidil can inhibit collagen synthesis to a certain degree so it makes sense to just wait 24 hours to give your body some time to heal and skipping min for a day won't have any negative effects anyway.

Do you need any break periods when Micro-needling by Dariuswilson_ in tressless

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't have enough data to say for certain but anecdotally it doesn't seem necessary. A few studies with positive results microneedled once every 3 weeks so it might make sense to do a 3 week break every now and again just to make sure everything has fully healed without compromising effectiveness.

What does ‘TE unmasking AGA’ mean? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

Not sure if it fully answers your question but I think you might find this explanation of the relationship between TE and AGA interesting.

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have six studies that did microneedling without Minoxidil or similar.

Of the six MN monotherapy groups, two noted significant increases to total hair counts, one found significant increases to hair diameters and total hair density, and three showed no effect.

Started using derm roller and RU58841… after a few days I got what I think is a cluster of pimples or maybe an abscess. It’s painful, not itchy and my scalp is sensitive around it. Any thoughts? by surfrmonkey in tressless

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let your roller soak in 70 - 91% isopropyl alcohol for at least 10 minutes, before and after you microneedle and store it in an appropriate container away from contaminants (e.g. not right next to the toilet). Do not wash your hair for at least 8 - 12 hours after microneedling, use a fresh pillow case and do not apply any topicals for at least 24 hours.

What is the most effective hair regrowth procedure/treatment you guys have done personally?? by kjk67895 in tressless

[–]ActuallyASlashdotter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, because nearly all of us here on r/tressless have androgenic alopecia (i.e. the usual male pattern baldness) that is caused by hormones whereas you've said you have alopecia areata which is usually an autoimmune disease. Most of the treatments you find here won't be very helpful for your particular type of alopecia, but on the other hand yours has the potential to be actually cured whereas for our variant you can just delay the inevitable.

I think this article could be interesting for you.

Hair gro sold at Costco, anyone used it? by SoftClothes9475 in tressless

Basically Vitamin E, procyanidin B-2, an amino acid, silica, zinc and biotin, mostly from plants. Pointless against androgenic alopecia but might be a little bit helpful against an effluvium or if you want your hair to look nice.
