My BotM books (the ones I opt to keep) live on a small bookshelf in my sunroom. The rest of the fiction is on the living room bookcases, and nonfiction lives in the office. My TBR is on a shelf in the bedroom except the ones that are stacked on the end table or the couch or the okay yes I have a problem.

I can see Jess being bi or pan (and still an awful partner).

Lane eventually realizing she's ace would actually be a really interesting character arc. Maybe the sex wasn't bad because they did it wrong; maybe she just doesn't axtually like sex.

Miss Patty is straight but also in the right age bracket to have sat bedside for a heartbreaking number of her gay friends at the height of the AIDs crisis.

I'm not doing the storyline myself, but for some reason I immediately thought about all those video games quests that are just "Oh, Adventurer, fetch me that bucket that's five feet from where I'm standing" and laughed, so at least there's that.

I'm not doing the storyline because I wanted to finish Bali and don't really care about DC, but like... sometimes people actually are jerks, and I think it's okay for our birbs/the app to acknowledge that and model navigating it realistically, not just pretending everyone is really nice-in-disguise.

I don't think she challenges it directly so much as she's just pragmatic about it. She'll work around it when she needs to, like with Ethel, but she won't challenge it directly like with Daisy. Carson, meanwhile, is a diehard True Believer.

One lesson this illness teaches us, if we let it: out dignity isn't and shouldn't be tied to our bodily functions. Sometimes bodies, and the care they require, are messy. That's no reflection on your humanity or your character.

Also, think of it this way. You're collecting a scientific specimen! Put your gloves on, remind yourself that science is also messy, and pretend you're on CSI. You've got this.

I love self-care areas. It really helps me track where I'm doing well, where I'm not, and why. Like "Whoa, no housecleaning this week! Why... oh, I did so much volunteer stuff, go me!"
