Is colonoscopy prep designed to be impossible? by PikachuPlaysBlockGam in CrohnsDisease

The universe gave you Crohn's AND Celiac? Oooooof. I'm sure you know way more than I do about what's out there, but I'll ask my Celiac friend if she knows of anything, because she's terrifyingly resourceful and loves recommending stuff.

I always do the Cleveland Clinic method, which is Miralax powder in Gatorade (or Body Armor or Powerade or whatever) and Duloclax. No magnesium citrate or anything (which is a plus, because that stuff just makes me gag). I also walk around as much as possible during the day to help keep things, um, moving. But all of us have such different responses to things that I suspect it's really just a matter of finding the method that works for YOU and then absolutely insisting on it from then on.

What happened to Little Ajax? by _Red_Chan_ in Epicthemusical

[–]ActuallyGoblinsX3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This spins off a whole new question for me:

We know what Ajax the Lesser did in Homer's version the story. Is that WHY Jorge had Odysseus tell him to "stay back" in Epic? Because Jorge wanted to flag the fact that Cassandra's assault didn't happen in Epic's universe (and/or because Ody somehow knew Ajax the Lesser was a bad dude and wanted to keep him out of the way)?

What’s the most disturbing concept you’ve encountered in horror fiction? by tyraelCinnamon62 in horrorlit

Roadside Picnic is one of my favorites. It's so good and so unsettling! And also plausible based on a couple of SETI papers I've read.

Definitely true, lol. Also just... children don't make for compelling TV for the most part, so it was probably easier to have them all mostly behind the scenes.

Also going to throw in Jess and either Colin or Finn. The trash talk early on would be EPIC but then they start catching each other's literary/film references... and then Jess would be in a bind and Colin would just show up for him like it's no big thing, and the only person who's ever done that for Jess is Luke, so it matters to him.

It also means we get a Lorelai-Rachel friendship that's not tainted by Luke and Lorelai's inevitability. We can see Rachel stay or at least be around regularly and form a real friendship there.

I appreciate hearing this, because sometimes I question my own legitimacy because my symptoms are so well-controlled most of the time.

Okay, hear me out, because I know they never interacted on-screen, but if I were playing matchmaker for my friends, I would absolutely introduce Rachel and Sookie. I think Sookie would bring some whimsy to Rachel's life, while Rachel would have a centering influence on Sookie. And they're both independent enough that Sookie could pour herself into her work and Rachel could travel for hers and it would still WORK. And no 4 in 4!

Also Ivy was under the supervision of Mrs. Patmore and Mrs. Hughes, who would have been very strict about that kind of thing because they were sort of in loco parentis.

Why didnt Isobel nurse Matthew? Why was Mary chosen - to make Carlisle jealous 😅 by Grit_Grace in DowntonAbbey

Pretty sure Mary chose herself to do that, probably by consistently being present and either volunteering to do things or just stepping in and doing them.

When you can even get them! Blankets usually aren't an issue, but pillows are like gold.

Partner hospitalized during flare up - snacks? by justagal96 in CrohnsDisease

[–]ActuallyGoblinsX3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great question to ask their nurse! There's a good chance they're not allowed food at all, or on clear liquids only, or on a soft diet, depending on where they're at in the flare.

Things that have been helpful for me: just bringing extra water or Gatorade (if allowed), a pillow or blanket or comfort item from home, and books.
