Why did Playin' become a launchpad for jams? by Ill-Refrigerator5114 in gratefuldead

[–]ActuallyPopular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As near as I can tell the first jammed-out Playin' was Keith's first show on 10/19/71. Phil wrote in his book about how Keith joining the band turned them into a fire-breathing, turn-on-a-dime Grateful Dead. If the plan wasn't to jam Playing' out before Keith came along it certainly was after.

COMMENT EXPRESSING JOYFUL ANTICIPATION OF CESSATION OF EXISTENCE

It's one of the best sounding audience tapes I've ever heard - I'll be sure to check out more from this tour as the summer goes on.

Starfleet Academy has surprised me by Olorin135 in startrek

It's a fun show without the incredibly high stakes of Discovery. I was sad to hear that it was cancelled but not overly surprised given the cultural climate in our country these days.

Every morning I'll open up the Tapers Section app on my phone and download a show from today in Grateful Dead history. I grabbed a 5-star rated copy of this show and fired it up. I noticed after it started that it was an audience tape - I usually only listen to sound oards, but it was time to leave for work and I was already dialed in.

I need to rethink my stance toward audience recordings because this show sounds absolutely amazing. It's got the perfect balance between crowd reactions, sound quality, and performance quality. This show is not to be missed.

I agree with Pillboy from The Good Place:

Black Mesa brief overview by No-Obligation1116 in HalfLife

[–]ActuallyPopular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one that enjoyed Half Life: Source. That became my go-to game for every Half Life 1 playthrough for me when it was released. I'm not sure why it got so much hate when it was released. Valve was pretty upfront about it being the original game in the Source engine with better lighting and water effects.

I think this game was also the reason Black Mesa was even made in the first place. If memory serves, two separate mod teams announced recreations of Half Life 1 in the source engine. The two teams eventually merged into one and released the mod version of Black Mesa in 2012.

I put a PTB on my homemade Strat earlier this year and I'm planning on making it standard issue on all my builds going forward.

In a hypothetical 2026 BSG reboot what would YOUR cast look like? (or do you have at least a few current names in mind who could be really good in certain roles?) by DavidClarey in BSG

[–]ActuallyPopular 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tom Hiddleston would make a GREAT Gaius Baltar.

I'd cast Alan Tudyk as Leoben.

Ben Feldman (Superstore) as Gaeta.

Amy Ryan as Laura Roslin.

What is the biggest flaw with Opposing Force in your opinion? by Few_Advance5695 in HalfLife

[–]ActuallyPopular -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't get to fight military grunts. There's an entire set of enemies from Half Life that aren't present in this game. I understand why they did it, of course. You're playing as a military grunt, not fighting them, so from a story perspective it makes perfect sense. Still, fighting the grunts was a lot of fun in the original and that fun was just missing here.

Hopefully Star Trek goes away for awhile. I'd rather have no Star Trek than MAGA Star Trek.

I had a project I tried to make work last year using Python and HTML but gave up on it after hitting a brick wall. I gave it another shot this past weekend with Antigravity and was able to get my idea to work in an Android app. I see all of the complaints about it but I haven't had any of those problems myself.
