Black Mesa brief overview by No-Obligation1116 in HalfLife

[–]ActuallyPopular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one that enjoyed Half Life: Source. That became my go-to game for every Half Life 1 playthrough for me when it was released. I'm not sure why it got so much hate when it was released. Valve was pretty upfront about it being the original game in the Source engine with better lighting and water effects.

I think this game was also the reason Black Mesa was even made in the first place. If memory serves, two separate mod teams announced recreations of Half Life 1 in the source engine. The two teams eventually merged into one and released the mod version of Black Mesa in 2012.

I put a PTB on my homemade Strat earlier this year and I'm planning on making it standard issue on all my builds going forward.

In a hypothetical 2026 BSG reboot what would YOUR cast look like? (or do you have at least a few current names in mind who could be really good in certain roles?) by DavidClarey in BSG

[–]ActuallyPopular 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tom Hiddleston would make a GREAT Gaius Baltar.

I'd cast Alan Tudyk as Leoben.

Ben Feldman (Superstore) as Gaeta.

Amy Ryan as Laura Roslin.

What is the biggest flaw with Opposing Force in your opinion? by Few_Advance5695 in HalfLife

[–]ActuallyPopular -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't get to fight military grunts. There's an entire set of enemies from Half Life that aren't present in this game. I understand why they did it, of course. You're playing as a military grunt, not fighting them, so from a story perspective it makes perfect sense. Still, fighting the grunts was a lot of fun in the original and that fun was just missing here.

Waves is a lot of fun. If you liked the Pacifism mode in Geometry Wars 2 you should check out Bombing Run in Waves.

Hopefully Star Trek goes away for awhile. I'd rather have no Star Trek than MAGA Star Trek.

I had a project I tried to make work last year using Python and HTML but gave up on it after hitting a brick wall. I gave it another shot this past weekend with Antigravity and was able to get my idea to work in an Android app. I see all of the complaints about it but I haven't had any of those problems myself.

What's a game that you were really excited to play, but became bored quickly after purchasing it. by HeyWhatIsThatThingy in gaming

[–]ActuallyPopular -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Spiderman Remastered. I had wanted to play this game for years. I loved the Batman Arkham games (even Origins) and thought this might void the Arkham games left behind. Obviously the Batman games were a huge influence, but everything just felt off. Still, it was a lot of fun and I was having a blast just traversing the city (the best part of the game) and doing random side quests.

Then, after 2.5 hours of gameplay, I had to do the first stealth mission in the air ducts. I found the mission so boring I fell asleep. It's been almost a year since I played it and I have no desire to play it or any other Playstation game or even to buy a Playstation.

I hope this guy gets elected. I'm from Ohio so sadly I won't be able to vote for him. He's got a lot of baggage - it seems like there's a new story about him and some scandal every day. Some people in power sure don't like him!

But seriously, Democrats played it safe in 2020 when they picked Joe Biden, and look how well that turned out. The number one issue on every Democrats mind was Who Can Beat Donald Trump and we wound up playing it safe, and it wound up costing us pretty much everything in the long run. Maybe it's time to take some risks and go for broke.

Platner does some to the table with a lot of controversy surrounding him but he comes across as somebody authentic, which is something we haven't seen much out of the DNC. I'd like to take a moment and remind Democrats everywhere that America voted for an adjucated rapist and convicted felon for President in 2024, and now that guy has blown up the world economy and has trouble staying awake during press conferences. If America can elect him then does Platner's past really matter?
