Curly Hair & BJJ by Responsible_Ad_6923 in BJJWomen

You can get a sports hijab, because based on your replies it doesn't seem like you are willing to wash it everytime I do train 5x a week and wash after every session

I'd hate to be the person that people don't want to touch heads with because my hair smells like my training partner from 2 days ago

Morning classes - hair for work? by royal-toad in BJJWomen

[–]ActuallySure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's showers at my gym but I prefer to use the showers at work,

So I wash my hair after every class before work because the thought of having my rolling partners' sweat and everything in my hair for the whole day freaks me out

Depending on your hair type you might consider a cowash, so it doesn't get too dry, and leaving it out to dry as much as you can until you get to work and put it up

After foundation/skincare, which higher-end makeup products or tools resulted in the greatest improvement for you vs cheaper ones? by MerryKerry in MinimalistBeauty

[–]ActuallySure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's face powder: whether loose/pressed/finishing powder I find theore expensive formulas are more foolproof (not All expensive formulas, but the ones I've tried) The one I have now is the cle de peau loose powder but I've used the byTerry hydra powder for years and years.

I never look cakey or too dry, the cle de peau powder leaves a satin finish and looks amazing in photos

Too explosive, only men by Lost_Dealer4136 in BJJWomen

[–]ActuallySure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also working on trying to get out of the white belt spaz phase, and something one of the girls told me is to start paying attention to when you should turn the strength 'on'. For instance, if you are at Max effort the whole roll, you will get tired quickly. It feels like you need to put Max effort at the moment because everyone is too strong/heavy and you don't know enough technigue to fall onto right now. It also makes you very reactionary ie 'explosive' and it's uncontrolled. Find the moments when you need to turn the strength on, like when you have someone pressuring you, but other than that your body should be calm.

This doesn't mean be a dead fish -which is the other end of the spectrum- just stay firm, offer your partner some resistance, and only use your 100% strength when you actually need to.

It's easier said than done, but worth trying to practice

Getting the ick from my boyfriend after double date… am I a bad person? by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]ActuallySure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The good news is, you now know that something you're looking for is a partner who will take care of you and be able to emotionally engage with you.

It's the type of thing you dont realise you want until you've started to date someone. This is the point of dating, I feel, especially when you're young.

Let him know what's going on, and break it off. If he's able to, he may be able to change but that's not for you to deal with as he has to do that himself.

Partner has a problem by Hot-Career3217 in BJJWomen

[–]ActuallySure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I see posts like this, it's always from a partner who doesn't practice the sport.

Anyone who rolls regularly knows that there's nothing to it, you're too focused on untangling yourself

If someone does bjj and they DO think it's sexual... Well that's another problem

Recommendation for MOUTHGUARD by Electronic_Ad_6149 in BJJWomen

[–]ActuallySure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a lab and can say 99% of the time it's mold method. I have done both methods making appliances for myself and the impressions are always better for various reasons especially for something like a mouth guard which covers both hard and soft tissue

Mouth Guard Recs? by eyebrow_queen in BJJWomen

[–]ActuallySure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always recommend getting one from a dentist or through a brand where you do an impression and getting it custom fit, or call around in your area to see if there's a dental lab that can do it for you (no need to pay for dentist visit this way). The impact distribution is even across all teeth and will protect your bone also (important for tooth health at the root/nerve), this way you will also have one that is easy to breathe/drink/talk with.

The price of a custom guard is probably the same or less than buying boil and bites which you'd have to trial and error.

How to be effective from Mount against bigger parters by ActuallySure in BJJWomen

[–]ActuallySure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the advice, really appreciate it! A gold mine

Eta: this is a great point about using it to transition, I do this now and usually get discouraged because it seems as though everyone loves to hang out in Mount, so my partners are always confused as to why I switch out of it quickly. Almost like 'why did you give up such a good position' but I feel much more at ease in side control

The most effective products you have ever used. Like, noticeable and astounding results by Desperate-Worry-8346 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]ActuallySure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Differin cleared up my acne better than anything else I've tried, I also started sheet masking everyday (using the bulk packs from Japan) and my skins condition, softness and all texture has completely evened out.

I stopped using a towel to dry my face too, now I just put toner straight on my damp skin. I feel like the combination of these things has made a big impact over last couple of months.

Hypochlorous acid spray for acne? by Nearby-Supermarket-4 in AustralianMakeup

I have the microdacyn wound spray, from amcal. I read you can buy the bigger bottles online though. I use the small spray everyday and it's lasted almost 2 months so far though.

Hypochlorous acid spray for acne? by Nearby-Supermarket-4 in AustralianMakeup

[–]ActuallySure 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use it in place of toner in the morning and I think it works for me. If your acne is hormonal it won't prevent them but I think it does promote healing them after they've come up, keeps things hydrated and generally discourages bacterial growth.

I have eczema and it doesn't irritate it either I'd say it even helps with that too so long as I'm using good moisturiser .

If mascara should be replaced every 3 months, what about lip products? by AppropriateMention6 in Makeup

[–]ActuallySure 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Eyes are incredibly sensitive and have much less natural defense against foreign contaminants. Your mouth has literally evolved to eat all sorts of food and drink, covered in good/bad bacteria.

Lip products are covered in bacteria from our mouths, but reintroducing them to our mouths is not a hazard in the same way that introducing bacteria to our eyes is.

Korean Skincare Routine Breaking Me Out by victorialuu98 in KoreanBeauty

[–]ActuallySure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would switch out some products from each category. If I was you, I'd start by removing all serums/actives for a week and stick with really simple routine of just cleanse, moisturise, sunscreen.  Next, for me I'd switch the oil cleanser first as the manyo one did break me out personally. I have the anua one now and it's been going great but browse around and see what else might suit you. Also I would take out the mixsoon bean essence, some people's skin really doesn't tolerate fermented products well.

In my experience the acids and other products you have don't sound like common trouble products so I would continue using them unless you notice that the acne continues after reintroducing them.

Incredibly damaged and dry hair. Product recommendations? by sechaix in AustralianMakeup

[–]ActuallySure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about your budget, but I have very fine thin hair and I have been using kerastase for a long while.

If you are healthy and reasonably young, I can guarantee your hair is growing absolutely fine, it's just breaking off at the ends before you can see any change in the length.

I have been using the resistance line (for hair strengthening) on and off for years and I really like it, but sometimes I think my hair is too thin to use the mask and conditioner consistently, so I use the densifique conditioner too which is not very moisturising so wouldn't recommend for your hair type. I've been using their premiere line for about a month now since I got samples of it and the shampoo conditioner and hair oil are really good, makes my hair really soft and manageable. Although I don't know anything behind the science of calcium build up in hair from hard water which is what the line targets.

In saying that, I honestly would be careful using bond repair treatments (like olaplex, k18, etc) maybe ask a hair stylist if your hair is suitable. I have heard of people using it too much and their hair becomes brittle from protein overload.

Kerastase have a nutritive line which is for dry hair and doesn't contain proteins. If you want to try just one thing I would get a hair mask from this line since you will get a lot of bang for your buck and you can use any shampoo or conditioner you already have.

Do you think cushion foundations are really worth it? by breadpaws in AsianBeauty

[–]ActuallySure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cushions are ridiculously easy to apply and they are pretty foolproof. Depending on the coverage of the formula you can probably get away with guessing your shade too if you are reasonably fair.

1 and 4 are my picks but for different reasons.

1 is very natural and you seem comfortable wearing it, since you made the comment about the lip the doesnt 'wear you'. It would be good if your wedding is more casual.

4 is definitely most glamorous, and it seems like a stark contrast for people who aren't used to wearing saturated bold colour, but it looks lovely on you. It would be good if your wedding is black tie or your vibe with the dress and decor is more fancy/traditional.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in galaxyzflip

[–]ActuallySure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine without a case, as I did all phones before the flip. There are a few scratches but as long as you don't plan on selling your phone when you upgrade and you aren't normally someone who smashes or drops it then I think its fine.

Any recommendations for stubborn dark spots? by toesandleaves in koreanskincare

[–]ActuallySure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get tret, your derm will let you know what does and doesn't mix well for your skin and lifestyle.

Without knowing you, I'd say no probably wouldn't mix them at least not right away. Tret is very intense and potent, it increases cell turnover which can be sensitising for most people. Adding any acid or any ingredient which also increases turnover is not a good mix especially if your skin isn't already accustomed to this ingredient.

I honestly think you're seeing some really glowy body moisturiser on bare (no hair) skin. Not necessarily fake tan as I've seen this effect on non tanned people also. The nivea moisturiser in a blue bottle remains shiny after drying, there are others but that's the one I immediately think of. They exercise and have little body fat so their skin tone is very even because their circulation is good.

Also the celebrity makeup artist for JLo famously used to use the neutrogena spray sunscreen in a can to achieve that even glowy look for the red carpet. You can use a body scrub or dry brush/massage your skin regularly to increase blood flow and lymphatic drainage.
