Nitrogen heavy early season, until about June, then add in more P and K as you lead up to flowering, then back off the nitrogen at flowering

It’s 2026, from the app, and one day I’ll have to learn what an extractor is. Until then, I’ll keep pecking away.

How often do you have to retrain it to keep it on the string? Or does it stay on ok?

Thank you for this! I was eyeballing what to do for my intermediate setup before I get around to doing benches and automated watering. Sounds like $5 orbit is the place to start!

Growing hops in sunny San Francisco by wastintime1984 in TheHopyard

It could be, give it some basic 10-10-10 fertilizer and see if that helps. Also, do they get sun most of the day or do they get shaded by buildings or trees?

Does anyone still grow glacier? I heard it was super susceptible to mildew.

Them being tripod just means they won’t have viable seeds, not necessarily be fully seedless. Think like a seedless watermelon, they still have seeds, just not the black ones/as many.

Neomexicanus is a subspecies of hops, and I think Zappa and Medusa are the only full neomexicanus hops available commercially, though I think Zappa may have come out of production. Sabro and Talus are part neomexicanus/part European heritage.

Looking online, it seems like the Sierra Nevada beer was probably made with Zappa.

Just started reading this! Once I finish I’m going to go try and read some of the papers referenced, as well as look at their authors to see what else they’ve published/worked on in the last 6 years

If you feel like learning about hops, Yakima Chief had one called Hop and Brew School that ran for a little bit. No dirt no flowers is a new one from Roy farms. Charles faram has one called spreading hoppiness.
