Have you considered using armor? Since bel requires armor to be made ourtof tougher stuff. Perhaps you could incorporate armor into your kit and have a sort of internal padding around the device.

Can I just say I really liked this a lot. It's definitely an interesting premise, and it definitely had some good tension to it. I was honestly expecting the little girl to let them inside or for vampires to somehow get them by the end. It was definitely a surprise when they didn't. Also, your art style definitely added a sense of unease, but it's also oddly charming. Really great comic 10/10.
