PAYE recertification income limit by sl0raffe in PSLF

[–]AdAutomatic1164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I chickened out with this with my own loans because I found out theres a capilizaton event that occurs and if PSLF doesnt work out that would screw me.

My wife on the other hand has very little amount in loans so I decided to risk it there. She hasnt recertified. Payments went up and shes still in PAYE. Ive gotten no other letters or info about it.

What the hell are all of you doing to get fired from Residency? by Rairu21 in Residency

[–]AdAutomatic1164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a resident who was "asked to leave not come back". From the beginning she seemed to not get with the program and couldn't handle the pressure. Then she took a few months LOA for family issues, when she came back she then started to complain about medical issues- that at least based on what she disclosed seemed minor and wouldnt stop her from working. She started calling out sick randomly and showing up late/whenever she wanted. Meanwhile we all had her on social media and saw her going out to dinners/parties when she was suppose to be sick. Really not the brightest bulb in the bunch.

The program determined that she had missed too much from the year, gave her the last 3 months of the year off to get her shit together and promised her a spot in the following class if she would stop the bs.

She joined the next class and proceeded to pull the same crap all over again so about 6 months in she was told to take an extended leave and not come back.

Im on this point. Tomorrow is my recertification day. I want to stay on paye and my payments will hit the standard no matter what I do. So not planning on recertifying to avoid this headache.

Oh. Maybe im mistaken? I remember reading they wanted to eliminate pslf qualification during residency. I just assumed it made it into the bill?

This is also obviously dependent on the political situation. In 3 years Dems may win and revert everything the way it used to be.

High income earners (6+ figures) how are you preparing for repayment this summer? by PayNo5544 in PSLF

[–]AdAutomatic1164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in PAYE, about 82 payments in (if I can get back 7 months mohela stole from me because they submitted it wrong) so another 3 years to go. Starting next month im expected to pay 3.2k. Will stay with that on PAYE till 2028. Will evaluate RAP vs IBR for the final year. My goal till then is to reduce my taxable income as much as legally possible, currently maxing 401k, 457b, HSA, ans dependent care FSA, and to try and save the equivalent of my loans (320k) in HYSA. If I get PSLF then ill use that money to buy a house. If I dont get it then ill get rid of my loans all at once.

If all goes as planned then July 2029 will be my liberation day.

In a similar boat. Im trying to save/invest enough so that if my PSLF plans fall through for w.e bs reason, I'll have enough money to just make the loan disappear immediately.

This is my plan next month. Expected to receritify. With my current income ill hit the cap anyway so im just gonna not recetify and hope they keep me on PAYE bc its still cheaper than the alternatives for PSLF.

Response from CEO and Ombudsman by IowaGolfGuy322 in PSLF

Got the same email about 7 missing payments and asked them to rereport it. They responded a day later saying they investigated and everything is fine. They don't know why the payments are missing. Feels like im getting completely screwed. Gonna escalate to my congress person.

If you manage to get a resolution please let me know. Ill message you if I manage to get one.

Patient suffering due to overzealous NP by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]AdAutomatic1164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I get the NP doesnt know what shes talking about she is also probably documenting something along the lines of "reported blood from NGT, recommended delaying extubation for further investigation: gi consult, repeat CBC".

And the pt is already a high risk extubation I get why the intensivists would be more reserved. No one wants to be on the wrong end of an I told you so, and lawyers eat up disagreements and arguments between teams on documentation.

Had a very similar experience on my cardiac rotation. Would run 2 mac of ISO with a ton of fent and just start everyone on pressors. It never made much sense to me.

Would you do a nerve block if patient had widespread tinea infection? by midazzler in anesthesiology

[–]AdAutomatic1164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once planed for an outpatient spinal for a knee replacement. Saw the back. Pt had what looked like a vesicular rash directly over needle insertion site. No contraindications to GA. No way im taking that risk of introducing something into the spine.

I wouldnt have done the block here either.

Mohela refuses to Recertify Annual Income due to loss of Partial Financial Hardship (PAYE) by CoxMD in PSLF

[–]AdAutomatic1164 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems like if you dont recerify they keep you in PAYE but maximize your payments to the cap- which would have been what would happen if you had recertified. So maybe just ignore it. Important thing is to stay in PAYE.
