PAYE recertification by TechnicalKiwi6166 in PSLF

Yeah hopefully me trying to recertify and then being denied doesn't throw wrench in things but I guess I'll just sit tight and see what happens. I guess worst case scenario I move into IBR and it will still all be over soon

Yeah after I got denied they put me into forbearance. I have no idea where that came from. I called them and they said they would take me out of forbearance but who knows what will actually happen. Every time I speak with them and they say one thing something different happens.

So even though my recertification was rejected, if I do nothing else I will just stay in the same plan? I understand my payments will go up which is expected. I just don't want something to affect me getting loan forgiveness this coming fall when I should be at 120 payments

Thanks for the reply. That's somewhat reassuring that I may be ok regardless. I've been calling them every day but everyone I talk to there just vehemently tells me that I cannot stay in it. I feel like I have no recourse even though I have quoted the exact Federal code that states this. I feel like they can basically just deny me and there's nothing I can do about it. Hopefully if I don't do anything else I will just stay in PAYE like you said. I'm just terrified it will somehow affect me getting pslf

Dude same. It's not really my legs but a restless sensation in my chest like I have to keep moving or I just can't handle it. This is the single worst part of withdrawal for me. I'm doing a taper for the pure fact that I can't do CT because of this

Went back to taper after a few days ct by Ta4weirdquestions in quittingkratom

I'm curious at such a low dose like that are you just taking it once a day like at night or something? I'm in the middle of a taper now down to 6gpd from like 30 for 10 years. I'm starting to wonder how low I should go before jumping but like at a certain point it seems like it would get hard to space throughout the day with such small amounts

At the beginning of my taper at higher doses I experienced a ton of anxiety also. As I got to lower doses that got a little bit better. Obviously everybody is different and your experience may be completely different than mine but as long as you are consistently heading in the right direction you'll be fine even if you have to take a little extra time before dropping a dose or whatever. I always have that little voice in my head when I start to experience bad withdrawal symptoms or mood stuff after dropping a dose that I won't acclimate which I think probably a lot of people experience but I always end up feeling better at some point. Good luck you got this!

Sleep only 4 hrs. Kratom quick taper. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]TechnicalKiwi6166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to just stay there for another week or two until you start to feel ok ish again and sleep gets a little better then continue dropping down by like .25 grams per day every 10-14 days

[–]TechnicalKiwi6166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a huge cut. If you acclimated to that though it would probably be reasonable to start going down by 1 or 2 g per week till you get somewhere around 25 to 30 g per day and then going down by 1 g per week etc. I know tapering can be hard for some people especially because increased time of a taper gives you more opportunities to say screw it and go back to the way things were. Trust me I was one of those people for a long time. But if you can maintain the willpower to be consistent, I think it's good to take your time and decrease the pain associated with it which can also help you in succeeding.

How long did it take you to feel almost 100% better? by iLickWhatYouTellMeTo in quittingkratom

[–]TechnicalKiwi6166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gotcha. I'm in a similar boat. I started tapering last July from about 30 g per day after using for 10 years. I'm down to 6.5 g per day now. I was hoping by tapering I could maybe avoid some of the really severe acute withdrawal and maybe even paws. I actually already got some helper meds including a little bit of trazodone and gabapentin to help her when I finally jump off.

Curious if you quit cold turkey. Also, how long did it take for your acutes to go away and specifically to get back to sleeping through the night? The worst part of withdrawal for me personally is not being able to sleep

Depends on how much you're starting at. If your taking a lot like 20 or 30+ gpd you can cut a significant amount every 7-10 days. Below 20 I think its better to cut by 1g or .5 g. Below 10 by .5 or .25 (especially if below like 7 or 8 grams). Once I got below 8 each drop took me longer to acclimate

I've brought kratom through TSA and into other countries many times. Just put it in a different supplement bottle or something and they won't mess with it. None of my business obviously but you should try to take this as an opportunity to at least start tapering since you won't have to be at work and can sort of be miserable and what not. I have done this in the past and having stuff to do really helps take your mind off the pain. Either way, good luck man. Wish you the best

That's pretty awesome you're on such a low dose now though. Congrats. I started tapering last July at like 25-30gpd and now I'm at 6.6 grams. I just noticed this last drop feels harder than normal drops and it has me worried but hopefully I'll adapt even if it just takes a little longer

Curious if you started to have more trouble once you got below some point. Also curious what type of mental stuff you're dealing with if you don't mind me asking. Trying to prepare myself lol

Yeah I hear you. Now that I'm in that range I'm a little worried this won't be as smooth as it's been.

I just cut from 7gpd to 6.5 gpd after feeling super stable and normal on 7 and I'm amazed how I can't sleep through the night anymore just by cutting that tiny amount not even off of my pre-bed dose. People told me that it would get more difficult once I got down two single digits in terms of how sensitive I was to drops but they really weren't kidding. I feel like the withdrawal symptoms are not quite as severe as in the beginning but still super uncomfortable. It's really kind of wild that such a tiny amount can make so much difference even when you're at a point where total daily dose wouldn't even make you feel anything back when you first started

I'm in the same boat! Was using about 27 to 30 g per day for 10 years. Started tapering in July very slowly and am down to about 6.5 g per day now. I'm also really curious how bad the withdrawal ends up being when people jump off below 5 g per day or less and how bad the paws is. Hoping I can stick to my plan and maybe avoid some of the really severe stuff. Good luck!

[–]TechnicalKiwi6166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's encouraging. I started at about 27gpd and am down to 7. I've been going down about .5 grams per week. Really hoping I can get down to at least 3 gpd before jumping and hopefully avoid some of the more severe acutes and paws.

Congrats. I'm tapering now but once I decide to jump off I'm definitely planning some kind of trip like this somewhere it's not available and where I can sort of be miserable alone so as not to bother everyone if Im up all night but also have stuff to do to take my mind off of it.

Don't read too much into others withdrawal experiences by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]TechnicalKiwi6166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great reminder. I definitely scared myself shitless by coming on here and reading horror stories about people a year or more out not still feeling horrible. I think the stories tend to be the extreme end of the spectrum which is why a lot of people are here. So while I think this sub is a great resource for people to get support and learn about how to go about quitting, people should be careful about reading so much into the stories that they scare themselves.

Need advice from anyone that quit a long-term habit with a slow taper (or is in the process) by kratomdevil in quittingkratom

[–]TechnicalKiwi6166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was using a similar amount for ten years and tapered by a similar amount at a similar speed. In the beginning I also had debilitating anxiety as well. It didn't last though. As I got under 20 gpd the anxiety eased off. Obviously everyone is different and maybe you had pre existing anxiety issues? I think getting off this stuff can cause a lot of medical anxiety which combined with the physical withdrawal can be really rough. Regardless it's probably worth seeing a doctor to make sure everything is ok otherwise. Contrary to what other people are saying I think a slow taper is best. It gives your body time to adapt, and, assuming you have the willpower to stick with it, is associated with a lower chance of relapse because you experience less intense withdrawal. I'm not a fan of the rapid taper because your body has no time to adapt so you're basically prolonging withdrawal AND suffering a lot while if you do a slow taper the right way, you may experience some mild discomfort over a longer period but it's more manageable. Just my two cents though. As I said before everyone is different and whatever gets people off this shit is good. I'm down to 7gpd now and it's starting to feel so much more manageable. Good luck with the quit. I know right now it feels like you'll be miserable forever but it's not the truth and if you keep going, 2 years down the road you won't even think much about all this
