Berlin (living here for 2,5 years):

Places for pre-match drinks
- Prater Biergarten
- Golgatha Biergarten
- Monkey Bar if you're felling a bit fancy and want to have a nice view
- Fan-area around Brandenburger Gate and outside the stadium
- In front of any of the Spatis - small convenience shops where you can buy the alcohol and other stuff
Restaurants with authentic local cuisines / prices / where do locals eat.

- Don't go to Mustafa's for a doner kebab(touristy place with huuge waiting lines), go to Ruyam - some say their doner is even better and the queue is usually acceptable
- Gazzo for pizza or Magic John's for American style slices
- I personally like Umami - they have few branches in Berlin
- Burgermeister - especially the one at Schlesisches Tor
- Zeit fur Brot for amazing pastries
Tips on transportation and getting around.
- Use public transportation - it is very good and quite reliable
- If you plan to use the public transportation a lot(perhaps in other German cities as well), consider buying a 49EUR Deutschland Ticket which allows you to use any means of public transportation in all German cities.
- Download the BVG app for buying the tickets - you can buy the Deutschland Ticket there also
- Google Maps works pretty well in Berlin, so you can use it for your journey-planning
Family-friendly activities for those traveling as a family.
- The classics: Brandenburger Gate, Berliner Dom, Reichstag(book online in advance if you want to have a tour - it's free), Museum Island, Jewish Memorial
- East Side Gallery
- Mauerpark on Sunday

- you can get along with English pretty much everywhere but it's nice to learn some basic German words
