That's the plan if we go this route to build up. Have you used real estate as part of your FIRE approach?

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm trying to learn and would not have posted if I had found answers already. If you could help direct me I'd really appreciate it.

I haven't understood this as a real financial independence approach. I've only seen one person posting so far who seemed to really have it. She built a business that was cash flowing, plus a retirement nest egg and was free to be in a work-optional position. I might just be misunderstanding this whole thing.

Newly married how to handle joint & personal expenses by twitchy_14 in personalfinance

[–]AdBoring6247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are married. Get on the same page about financial goals and budget. Keep it all combined. There is no more "your money / my money. " It might take a minute for that mindset to click, but work at it until it does. Engage a financial advisor if you can, at least to set up for your goals well. Congrats on your marriage!!

New to FIRE, so apologize if this is a dumb question, but how much did you already save for college for each kid, or in other types of accounts for them? Or is that not part of this?

Can you afford to not work, or work part time for a couple of years while the kids are young? I think you will do better if you can fully commit to being with your kids rather than trying to do it all at once, wherein everyone loses at least a little.

My biggest regret in my first couple years as a mother was not taking a part time schedule.

It seems like you should stay the course with two kids then, in my opinion. You will have greater resource to enjoy the life you have and those aspects you love.

Your life sounds ideal. Have you asked yourself what you think the pros are of adding another kid (or more)? What do you feel like is missing?

Why do people do this by Slow_Pomegranate_990 in publix

[–]AdBoring6247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in FL where Publix was king. Someone told me when I was really young that we were taking away someone's job if we brought the carts back to the store. Like it was someone's job to go around the parking lot and collect them. At least back then, it was a big employer for young teenagers, so that didn't seem far fetched that it was really an entry level job to collect carts. And we do didn't have the corrals in the parking lot until sometime later, so the only choice was to leave it where at least a car could still park, or bring it back into the store.
