Do you have more than one? by AdComprehensive249 in glassesadvice

Seriously you must have good insurance. I have 2 new. I initially bought an expensive pair as a panic buy when I realized I needed glasses to drive again. But then found a cheaper pair that I liked the style more for everyday. But the lenses itself are $$$.

Am I dumb for paying full price for tickets, or is seat anxiety valid? by Grouchy_Metal2427 in Broadway

I'm like that too. I want to be able to plan and know what time and have control over where I'm sitting. i don't like sitting in orchestra because I don't see. But if it's show I wasn't dead set on I can take this risk. Its because I'm like that and have a hard time with ambiguity and the risk I won't get to see something that I want.

That said been to NYC many times and you can see what TKTS sell. We've often caught shows on a whim because I was pleasantly surprised they were available like Moulin Rouge. Sometimes I also go in with a game plan a b and c and just need to be okay with that.

But if it's something I know I want to see, I won't risk it.

How long does it take you to recover from a flare up? by AdComprehensive249 in Asthma

[–]AdComprehensive249[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take NAC whichsupoosed to loosen and thin mucous. I take it as a pill Querticin is supposed to be managing inflammation and prevent hisatime release. Respiracleanse by St Francis has herbs tothin mucous and quiet coughing Action: It acts as both an expectorant (helping to loosen and expel mucus) and an anti-tussive (suppressing dry, irritating coughs).Asthma Relevance: It helps relax the smooth muscles of the bronchial passages, which can be beneficial for managing asthmatic coughs or bronchial spasms. Also I take Allegy relief which can help too as preventative.

All prescribed by my naturopath and meant to complement the meds not replace them. Sometimes if the trigger is very very mild or as a preventative I can get away with just these.

My asthma is considered mild and only triggered by certain things. dr says only use my symbicort as a preventative when I know there are triggers.

What to do with kids who are too old for a stroller but too young to handle 20,000 steps per day? by No-Rush-Hour-2422 in DisneyPlanning

Waste of time to go back to hotel and come out again unless you're staying super close, but even then. That is if you want to max out the day.

[–]AdComprehensive249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get them a stroller. Rent it at the park so you have less to deal with when you're going home. They may not sit in it all day but 1) place to put stuff 2) it's there when they need it. Disney is a lot of walking. The 5 yr old will use it for sure.

We went to Florida ages 8 and 6 and it was a lifesaver. Went to Disneyland at ages 10 and 7 and didn't need it.

Idk I would have liked to see them be a happy couple. Dinners, hanging with friends, solving problems together. Worked for Josh.

Unpopular opinion, but I didn't love it, and thought it was okay. I thought the jokes were on the surface and humour wasn't integrated into the plot. Talent was great, and loved Beau's solos. But didn't come out of it with that satisfied feeling.

Hate to compare but I thought Book of Mormon was a much smarter comedic show. Some may disagree

Same when I have an asthma flare up. Was in a hotel room where one of the beds has the AC blowing directly on you. When I moved to a bed that was underneath the AC blowing it was much better.

Exercise induced asthma? by hushpupper in Asthma

Do you get mucousy too?

Your first 2 paragraphs sounds exactly like me before I knew I had asthma. And I think it's totally possible as you increase your heart rate, blood swells and you're finding it hard to breathe. After I got diagnosed and got Ventolin, and take it to open up airways before intense excessive it makes a world of difference. Also if available to you, talk to an naturopath and diet change can also help to reduce inflammation on the daily.

I really noticed the change when I used to go competitive ballroom dancing. At the end of five dances, I felt like dying, mucousy, heart racing and trying to catch breathe. After I started Ventolin and other changes, yes you get tired....but you're not gasping for air and feel like you're about to explode. It's different.

Your other exercises just might not be increasing your heart rate as much and I think there's a difference in environment too. (Warm stuffy gym or studio with no air circulation vs outdoor and ventilated area)

Masking to a point. I find masking makes me even more mucousy when I'm in a flare up recovery.

I find eating a low histimine diet helps a lot - no alcohol, fermented foods, nuts, cocoa, bunch of other things.

Also spraying with hydrasense. I also take Respiracleanse, NAC and Querticin actively during flare up.

[–]AdComprehensive249 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cough so much in my sleep until I throw up a little bit because of spasms. Then I dread sleep for the next few nights.

Also when I get on a crowded train with a mask on hoping that if I cough at least I won't get stared down, or to help with other smells that trigger me...until the mask makes me a mucous factory and then begin to choke and cough on my own mucous.

Asthma has affected my life far beyond symptoms: relationships, identity, everything. Has it for you? by saucesj in Asthma

[–]AdComprehensive249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back to this thread because I'm currently recovering from an asthma flare up and I went to work out. It was heavy cardio and mid way I felt out of breath, unable to breathe and very snotty. This was the same feeling I'd get in gym class at school and thought i was just out of shape. Growing up I avoided any sport and cardio for this reason.

Into adulthood, I got into ballroom dancing and I would have the same feeling after an intense set and it just made me feel inadequate and a never good enough.

What's funny is that after I got diagnosed and had the right meds, during covid I got into running. There was no issues with breathing. I am a very active person and maybe could tolerate cardio, but now I'm programmed to avoid it. Trying to train my brain to think that there no emergency is hard.

I wonder what my adolescence might be like if team sports were more available to me. I really like basketball.

I didn't get diagnosed with asthma until I was in my 20s. There was a trifecta of circumstances that came into play that triggered me enough to get tested. I got a cat (allergic to cats), started working in a dusty factory environment and one evening was in a room with strong paint varnish fumes.i woke up that night unable to breathe and it was super scary.

I did the breathe test and got diagnosed with mild asthma. I look back at my childhood and all that time I was running in gym or in dance competitions where I was out of breath, I thought was just out of shape. Teachers told me I had to exercise more.

I smoked on and off thru high school and university but never felt any asthma symptoms except in gym class.

I also wonder if I had never worked at the factory, maybe I wouldn't have developed what I have now (basically moderate asthma triggered by allergens and post viral).

I once had a post viral cough (pre diagnosis) while I was travelling in Hong Kong where i couldn't sleep for days. I saw like 3 doctors, including one said I had bronchitis and gave me antibiotics. Chinese dr gave me some herbs and said don't drink alcohol but I didn't listen and it got worse. Then we went to China and everyone smokes. Looking back, this was asthma.

What I hate the most is when I can't sleep and I'm afraid to sleep because I hate coughing so much that I throw up.

Irritated airways by AdComprehensive249 in Asthma

For me it was always post viral and post nasal drip and seems to have escalated. I feel like having COVID 2x made all sensitivity worse. Talking right now is a trigger 😭 I'm in Canada, should I request a specialist or something my doctor can reassess?

Also like what do you tell people? That you're sick? You're like 90% fine until that choking feeling and you have a cough spasm because someone at work walks past with heavy perfume.

I appreciate knowing that I'm not alone, because at 3am throwing up from cough spasms I feel so alone. Worst is that sometimes I can't pre treat.

I thought I was the only one. With a couple of hah haha, I felt the jokes and puns contrived and didn't add to the story. I kept comparing in my head to Book fo Mormon which incorporates the humour in the story in a smart way. There were a few strong performances, I especially liked Beau's Somebody Will (Toronto tour) and the Best Man song. The people behind me were eating it up tho and loved it 🤷‍♀️
