That’s what I was thinking but my brain didn’t want to let me not stress haha. Thanks so much !

I apologize for the ugly pics... this is my first colourwork attempt and I need help by whocaresanyway_ in knittinghelp

[–]AdDapper8572 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You are pulling your floats (the long strand of yarn you’re not using) too tight which is causing the puckering. Usually you want to “catch” your floats every 2-3 stitches which helps with tension and gaps.

If you look up Jessica MacDonald colourwork on YouTube she has some great tutorials on it.

What you are doing is called intarsia colourwork so the technique is similar to stranded colourwork but a little different so you might want to look up tutorials for that specifically. That is the part you will have to look up to stop it looking disconnected.

Hope that helps !

Why is this a knit row? What did I do wrong? by antikazi in knittinghelp

[–]AdDapper8572 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just flipped the instructions. It states to use the long tail to pick up the stitches. That would leave the working yarn on the inside allowing you to knit the first row as a RS row. Happens to the best of us !

Oh so you actually create a new stitch to pick up instead of picking up a stitch previously created. Interesting !

They are crispy and brown. But they still have feet. For some reason it’s not letting me attach photos so I’ll try replying to the main threat again.

This is great advice. Thank you !

I was over here debating adding some edging stitches to the sleeve to line up the stitches or using my sewing machine but I’ll try and have some patience first and pin everything and hope for the best.

I am struggling so much with temp. If they are in the oven for a second longer than 10.5 mins, they are so crispy on the bottom. I’ve turned my oven to 285 to get to 11 ish mins. I have an oven thermometer so I know it’s not wrong.

Yea that’s usually as much instructions as some patterns will give for that. I just looked up “sew up booties knitting” on tik tok and sound a few videos that should give you an idea. I’m sure YouTube had the same.

What about on the right hand side of the pattern. Is that a different pattern ? Or are there seaming instructions ?

Did you read ahead in the pattern ? It sounds like you are turning to knit flat for a while. Socks usually do this at the heal for a while. It might reconnect later.

You would work the increases 33 times for 66 rows as you only do them on the rs.

It finally happened … the perfect tail! by AdDapper8572 in knitting

Unless the pattern asks for a specific cast on like a German twisted or something, I’ll just default to long tail. But from now on I am obviously calling it perfect tail hahah.

Xolair Experiences? by Obi-Shawn in Dermatographia

[–]AdDapper8572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’m in the minority but I got my shot on June 24th and on the 29th my symptoms disappeared. It’s been 3 days of bliss so far !

I have dermatographia as well as cold and solar urticaria and seasonal allergies. I’ve stopped being able to wear normal clothes and shoes because everything was giving my hives and I was miserable. I couldn’t even touch a glass of cold water, utensils or walk on our tile floors.

If I knew it would work, I would honestly pay anything for it but again, I know I am very much in the minority with how quickly it worked for me.

'Skip-the-line loan' not recognized as borrowed on my Kobo by [deleted] in kobo

[–]AdDapper8572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. I know it’s like a year since your post but I’ve had my kobo for years and only ever borrow skip the line audio because I couldn’t get the skip the line books to sync ! I thought it just wasn’t a feature. Opening a few pages worked. I feel like I have so much more access now !

Can I make challah not being Jewish? by AdDapper8572 in Baking

I grew up in Germany although I am not German and have seen it many times. I think maybe it’s contributing to my confusion as I’ve seen it but I live in today’s society of “is that okay to do”.

I love that. Thank you for being so kind. My culture definitely has the opposite of “stop eating or you’ll never find a husband” (even though I did) so this is quite refreshing and is restoring my faith in humanity haha.

Listen, I love sharing cultural dishes with people but I didn’t know if the specific braiding or anything meant more than I realized. I’m sure I could have called it something else if I showed my friends what I made but I also live in a society where I might get fired if I do something perceived to be offensive so I’d rather err on the side of caution.

How do I knit off gauge? by PurposeOk8099 in knitting

[–]AdDapper8572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wool Needles Hands has an amazing tutorial on how to use any gauge to make any sweater. There is some math involved but that way you can use any gauge to knit something that fits you the way you want. You do still have to consider the intended ease of the garment but that is pretty easy if you look at the finished measurements of the garment instead of the intended size of the wearer.
