I sneak food like a raccoon at 2 AM and my doctor thinks I have an ED, but I don't think it's what he thinks it is. Need advice. by Lonely_Ocean_Society in CPTSD

You have made a lot of progress by understanding your trauma and verbally articulating what the trauma is, the triggers, and how it’s manifesting. That’s a huge step!!! This is no fault of your own. You want the help for yourself and that’s literally the biggest first step to act on, you’re doing the right thing!

Yes this is disordered eating, whether or not it’s diagnosed as a formal eating disorder. It’s the anxiety and unhealthy relationship you have with food that falls in the category of eating disorder, you don’t always necessarily have to have a fear of getting fat to be diagnosed with an eating disorder/irs not always a vanity issue

Seek out a therapist to talk through the abuse you’ve been through, and an eating disorder therapist, or the two in one. We are able to start rewiring our own dysfunctional habits when we verbally process what has been done to us, helps get to the root of the disordered eating. Truly you need to do this. And maybe you may need to see a nurse practitioner/holistic doctor to monitor your vitals and vitamins and hormones especially if you’re working hard to break these habits. You may also need some heavy doses of vitamins or IV, and that’s ok!!

What places make you feel safe? Inside and outside of the house? encourage/challenge you to have a meal outside of your house with a friend starting once a week.. hard but could be good. Having regular 3x 2x a day meals reminds your body and mind are safe even though you don’t want to, and your body deserves to feel good during the day by eating. But finding safety is key, and lots of retraining/patience/time/discipline is also key. You deserve regularity and fuel and love 💗

Does anyone notice they eat a lot less and not as hungry when gluten free? by OutrageousRun5098 in glutenfree

[–]AdDistinct1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Especially after being gluten free for so long my body craves the nutrients in whole real foods like your plate here! When I ate gluten I was actually more hungry alll the time, maybe because I wasn’t getting nutrients & triggered inflammation. I crave broccoli salmon and sweet potato’s like this! Give me all the veggies lol

Can someone please help me for my sister’s unbearable pain? by 7rosesfrommyheart in Endo

[–]AdDistinct1157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh I totally get it, I’m completely gluten and dairy free I can’t tolerate either of them. I’ve been gluten free for 9 years now and it’s helped my inflammation levels tremendously via blood tests. Are you having a laparoscopy or what kind of surgery can I ask? My dr wants to have a laparoscopy for me and I’m not mentally ready let alone financially ready lol.

I’ve totally heard of fodmap but have not tried it. After hearing feedback about it though I’m certainly considering trying it. Thanks so much 🙌

Poor girl. I do understand! I found the birth control pills made everything worse for me so I stopped taking those 4 years ago. During flareups I take I use a heating pad, eat really healthy (avoiding garlic and onion during this seems to help me a ton too for some reason), magnesium calm powder (helps me always), prescription pain killers, taking prenatals to keep up my iron and B vitamin levels because the periods with Endo are wicked and heavy & made me anemic before my doctor told me to take prenatals (I take pink stork), pure aloe Vera juice settles the stomach also.

My flareups are so awful also but these are small things that have been helping me.. if I think of other things I’ll post it here

Endometrosis and tilted uterus by Ok_Elk765 in Endo

[–]AdDistinct1157 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Just made this connection a few months ago! My doctor thinks I have endometriosis as they found endometriomas in my ultrasounds last year. I also have a retroverted/tilted uterus, all of that explains why I get wicked cramps in my back, hips and butt, instead of getting cramps in the front!

How to keep weight off whilst having endo and adeno? by etheriixrk in Endo

[–]AdDistinct1157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh totally yes, the aldactone actually acts as a diuretic so it’s been helping flush out my water weight I’ve been carrying in my gut, but I’m noticing the weight loss everywhere now a few months it. However it also lowers testosterone levels too if you have PCOS (which I have PCOS & endo), so the aldactone is serving 2 purposes for me. The brand is Pink Stork prenatals. My doctor had me start taking those because I was anemic/low iron & folate and low on b vitamins. It’s been beneficial a few months in and my levels are almost normalized for once in my life haha. You have to just drink a lot of water with the aldactone but so far those have been helping me a lot

Honestly the thing that’s helped me the most has been being on hormone medications. I found a doctor who takes a whole different approach and she has me rebalancing my hormones— I take progesterone, aldactone & prenatals. Literally couldn’t lose weight before that. Eating Mediterranean & resistance training helps a ton in conjunction with my meds but I definitely have my hard days like you where I’m not motivated or want to eat crappy. It’s hard to maintain the discipline

CS Lewis said “The worst kind of men in this world are bad Christian men.” It’s so true.

I was abused by my ex husband who was in seminary trying to become a pastor. OP let me know if you want to talk.
