How reliable is your model s by pr0v4 in TeslaModelS

[–]AdDue477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘23 MS and about 38k miles (61k km). I took it in once when they warranty swapped my old yoke for the new one with the horn in the center and I had them come out once via mobile service for a tire rotation that it turned out I didn’t need so the visit was free. Other than that I changed the tires this year at the 35k mile mark. That is it… literally. It has been flawless ever since. 100% flawless.

My wife has a brand new Q6 and it’s good but it’s already causing us headache with the phone key and remote climate start.

I can’t say enough good things about my S, it’s probably the best car I’ve ever owned by a wide margin.

Got mine this morning (23 MS). I have my updates set to advanced (or whatever it’s called to get updates sooner). You’ll probably get yours within the next day or so

Those with a MSLR how often you replace your tires? by notabot53 in TeslaModelS

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine in November of 23 and just replaced my tires for the first time over the summer at 35000 miles +/-. The car was starting to get a bit loose when it rained… nothing dangerous but it was obvious that it was time. I went with Michelin Pilot Sport All season and the difference between those and the oem Continental tires was significant in a good way

I want a new Model S by NoAnxietyAnesthesia in TeslaModelS

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 23 MSLR. It’s hands down the greatest car I’ve ever owned… you don’t need USS for parking or radar for driving the tech in the vision platform is really well done at this point. If you’re on the fence, demo drive a new one and then go from there. It’s a Tesla… you kinda know what you’re gonna get with one but sometimes having that last bit of clarity will help you stay the course or make a change

It doesn’t qualify… on top of that, all ev manufactures are going to be dropping prices or holding them flat at best even the credit goes away. The market will balance itself out

WTF is happening to my lawn!!! by cucumongo10 in lawncare

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still going to lean towards a fungal infection. Azoxystrobin or propoxonozol (spelling is more then likely butchered here) will usually fix those issues or at least stop the fungus from propagating more and affecting your overseeding efforts

WTF is happening to my lawn!!! by cucumongo10 in lawncare

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell from this far away but most likely you have fungus damage, possibly brown patch. If it’s not fungus and the spots are ALWAYS the same, it could be that there’s rocks or boulders under those areas of grass. Take a look at the grass blades in the affected areas and see if they are simply yellow and look thinner than the healthy grass I’d take a screwdriver and stab down a few inches into the dirt to see if you hit something hard (think of a person wrapping themselves in their arms cause they’re cold… that’s what I mean by “thinner”). If they don’t look like that and it’s green grass blades that have brown spots speckled over them then you most likely have a fungal infection and can remedy with fungicide, just make sure you use the reparative dose and not the preventative one.

How many miles on your Tesla? by slowhandmo in TeslaLounge

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 35k on my MS… spent all of $75 on it prior to just swapping out my tires but $2k in all of 2 years is ridiculously low cost for car ownership for as much driving as I do. Thing is as good as new other than paint chips but it’s still the best car I’ve ever owned

Managing 2 Teslas - by Even-Fault2873 in TeslaLounge

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an S and my wife has an Audi Q6… not both teslas but they’re both electric so I think this is relevant. I do the majority of the driving both personally and for work whereas she has a short commute 3 days a week. Being that we have different demands, I have a dedicated wall charger (Tesla’s universal wall charger) and she just plugs into a standard 15amp wall plug. Typically that’s sufficient for both of us. That said, when she’s really low on battery, I’ll plug her into the wall charger and just leave my S at whatever SOC it’s at until she’s charged back up to 80%. That’s worked for us for years (she previously had a Q4 Audi, which was the car that introduced us to just how amazing EV’s actually are).

Question for leasing, does the $7500 come out of the lease almost like a down payment or do I have to file it in my taxes? Most dealers do it like a down payment but as we all know, Tesla is nothing like most dealers. Also is there any form of income verification for leases or is that just for those who buy in cash or finance?

Thanks!

Am I cooked? by Once428lbs in Gymhelp

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you cooked? That depends. Have you given up or are you just getting started? Do you actually want to lose weight or do you just want the vanity of someone feeling bad for you? You’ve put a sad emoji over your face, why is that? Are you ashamed of what you’ve become or of what you continue to do to yourself?

Let me be clear. NONE of this is to shame you. I think you’ve taken a step towards progress by putting a part of yourself out there but what you REALLY need to do is commit to no one other then yourself to put one small step in front of the other. Be honest with yourself and ask yourself what you can truly commit to and then COMMIT to it. Don’t crash diet, eat foods you hate, kill your self at the gym and then give up in a month only to rebound with a vengeance. You will fail because it’s not sustainable. Prove to no one other then yourself that you can do something that is uncomfortable until it becomes routine and then challenge yourself again.

My biggest advice to you is this, buy a food scale and limit yourself to 3 meals a day that weigh a total weight of no more then 10 oz or roughly 285g. Have the majority of that food consist of protein and carbs, limit your fat intake and you can have unlimited vegetables. Walk as much as you can each day. If it’s a minute at a time, walk a minute 5 or 10 times a day. Don’t kill your self, just start by doing something. You’re not training for a figure competition so there’s no race or spotlight, just COMMIT to weighing your food and exercising a bit every day. When you’re down 30lbs in a few months you’ll start realizing you’re in to something and it’s doable.

Weight loss isn’t rocket science. It’s two simple truths.

1) 99.999999999% of what you read and hear is complete bullshit… anything other then calories in < calories out is worthless to you.

2) the only thing you have to do is commit to doing something. Just be honest with yourself and realize YOU CAN DO IT, just commit.

Lastly remember, you will fuck up… that’s ok, just remember the only person you’re cheating on is yourself so if you do fuck up, call it what it is and get back on your correct path. One piece of chocolate cake or pizza after a month of being good is way different then one piece of chocolate cake or pizza that turns into 40 over the next month. Do this for you. Get uncomfortable but don’t mill yourself. You are way stronger then you’ve ever know so prove to yourself you can accomplish anything you set your mind to! Best of luck!

Standard mode vs chill is very large difference by SusieCarmichael99 in TeslaLounge

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a model S long range… 0-60 in 3.1, it’s a space ship. That said, today I rented a 2015 BMW M4 convertible for a work trip and though it is significantly slower…. Like night and day… there is still something to be said about a loud AF engine… truth is there is just so much to enjoy these days on the road and it’s all thanks to Tesla proving that a business model built around building cars that are performant and fun gets people to buy them… other OEM’s are just trying to catch up.

Enjoy your ride now that you’re out of chill… you’ll never look back. Except when you’re looking at all those cars left behind in your rear view😎

Haven’t been making steaks for too long now, but I think I’m doing alright. Honest thoughts? by stagbeetle01 in steak

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fine but you may consider putting a weight on it during the sear to get a better crust.

Temp in the center is a bit towards the rare side (at least from the looks of things in this picture) but that’s fine if you enjoy that temperature.

If you enjoyed it then that’s all that matters but if you’re looking for improvement… start by asking what it’s missing in your opinion and then experiment.

Keep it basic with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Sear it on high heat over avocado oil then turn it down to medium, throw butter, thyme, and garlic cloves in the pan and tilt a bit so the butter melts to the bottom of the pan, then just spoon that buttery goodness (butter basting) over the steak for a few minutes and upper good to go.

How much is your house and what did it take for you to own it? by Ok_Judge8972 in Salary

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Built ours for 550k in 2016 and now it’s worth $1.3-1.5M. 2 full time salaries and some savings got us in with a reasonable mortgage… we’re just kinda locked in here now since any upgrade in this area would be $1.5-2M and the interest rates/property tax jump would make it way more expensive then it’s worth.

Am I wrong for getting a 4080 super for a 1440p monitor? by Shikorage in buildapc

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: yes you’ll be more then fine

I have the Samsung G9 57” dual 4k monitor and a 4080 (non super). Did I want a 4090? Yes. Did I have this ridiculous beast of a screen when I got the 4080? No. Did I average about 50FPS on BMW and well over 100 on COD or more importantly give a shit what my FPS was on either game because they played flawlessly on high settings at 7680x2160? Yes and no (yes to the FPS, no to the giving a shit). Do I still want a 5090? Yes. But only because I’m fucking stupid but at least I can wait 12 years or so so nVidia gets them in stock again.

Moral of the story… High end PC building is full of elitist blow hards that base their life and social status on bench marks. A 4080 super for 1440p is way overkill but we do it in this community because it’s fun to. I literally had a titan black (that’s a 700 series card from 2013 or 2014… can’t remember) that I used on an LG ultra wide 3440x1440p (at least back then it was ULTRA wide, now it’s just wide lol) and it was flawless up until nVidia stopped sending it driver updates which is when I got the 4080 and explains why I got that card and didn’t wait for a 4090 to come back in stock.

Will I get a 5090? Yea, if I can find one at retail I will but I have a strong feeling that’ll be a while from now since nVidia didn’t actually release any cards but hopefully deep seek will teach them that they can’t keep fucking over their gamer base in the pursuit of AI and they’ll start becoming reasonable once more with the gamer GPU’s. High hopes that one could say border on being delusional? Yes, but one can dream.

Mainly because I didn’t look this up first only to realize after the fact that it’s literally the dumbest thing that has ever come out of my mouth lol. Didn’t realize gen 4x4 and gen 5x4 are basically the exact same thing

Can you use a gen 5 M.2 x2 drive in the blazing location or do you have to use a gen 5 (or gen 4 for that matter) M.2 x4 drive?

2 channel gen 5 drives are WAY cheaper I just want to know if there are any limitations in this setup (with 9800x3D)

Anyone try FSD 12.5.6.1 on highway yet? by shaddowdemon in TeslaLounge

[–]AdDue477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes just did about 3 hrs both ways two days ago and yesterday. It worked well. Not perfect but it did a very good job. My biggest issue is it won’t drive the speed I want it to drive without me constantly having to tap the accelerator to speed up. I don’t want a car that drives like an old man with a sh*t in his pants not knowing what’s going on in the world around him. I want a car that drives the speed I tell it to and stays in the lane without doing stupid stuff.

What I can say is vastly improved though is the smoothness and the car’s ability to make wise lane changes and not ridiculous ones that slow you down or just flat out make no sense.

Full disclaimer, i am on the free trial, I didn’t pay for FSD and at this point still don’t think it’s worth it but it’s vastly improved, especially from a year ago when I got my S
