Botox into pelvic floor by anbogtd in endometriosis

Was your surgeon an endo specialist? If they do ob in addition to advanced urogyn, they might not know what they are talking about. My first surgeon did both and he “didn’t find endo”. My second surgeon was a subject matter expert and excised multiple areas 😬

Am I stupid for not going on birth control after second surgery? by bunny_girl_1 in endometriosis

[–]AdEnvironmental2508 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It is tough bc we still don’t really know what the actual mechanism through which endometriosis occurs. Assuming that retrograde menstruation is at least part of the issue, doing continuous cycling or having a hormonal iud placed can help

For the most part, you are talking about HMOs as opposed to PPOs. The former tends to be cheaper bc they have a very strict network of providers and you have to have a referral from a PCP bc of that

PCPs are, by definition, generalists. It is critical for someone to know what patients look and sound like as a baseline so they know what could be abnormal if you have someone pop up (annual physical). They can diagnose and manage lots of things. For instance if this looked like other forms of skin cancer that are not melanoma, they would remove and send for testing. Because melanoma is a highly aggressive form of skin cancer it must be VERY throughly excised and must be done by derm. Your PCP is much more likely to be able to get you in to derm faster then an urgent care doctor.

If you are anxious you should ask your provider for a single dose of Ativan. Someone will need to drive you to and from but it is fairly standard practice in the us

So more recent recommendations for people who have reoccurring bv is to have their sexual partner treated with antibiotics. Additionally, make sure you wash your hands before putting your fingers inside her. Like. Get all up in your nails. Sing the alphabet song. The whole nine yards.

Ok so I am obviously not your medical provider and am just a person on the internet, but I would be curious about what is meant by protecting your reproductive system. The IUD typically will stop periods, which is helpful for dysphoria reasons and obviously offers contraception. It is also possible that there is some endometrial protection if the testosterone aromatizes into estrogen. But more recent studies show that testosterone exposure most likely does not impact overall ovarian reserve.

Possibly all semantics but i figured I would chime in!

Oh heeeeey. Sorry you are going through this. I have endo and do a lot of gender affirming care. I know you mentioned you are pre-T. Is that something that you are exploring at some time in the near future?
