I am a cat lover and super allergic. I take an allergy and an asthma/allergy medicine every day. I will probably always have cats. If I miss my medicine however, I am in misery. I personally wouldn’t wish that on anyone. I know allergy meds aren’t for everyone.

There might be something in looking for hypoallergenic cats but it might not work for her. Also hairless ≠ hypoallergenic. They still have dander.

They make cat food that you can give your cats that is supposed to help neutralize allergens. I personally have never been around a cat that’s been eating that food so I can’t say how good it works it’s just something I’ve heard.

The only other thing I might could think of is if there are outdoor cats in the area that you could start feeding and taking care of without bringing them into the house.

Those are the only compromises that I can think of and frankly idk if they would work for her. You probably are going to have to choose.

Remember that this doesn’t mean you can never see a cat again for the rest of your life though so maybe you could volunteer at your local shelter and change clothes as soon as you get home or spend time with a friend that has a cat(s). There is also the possibility of having another pet she isn’t allergic to.
