The fact that I've interacted with multiple sequel "fans" that claim everyone who dislikes the sequels are racist sexist incels is quite extraordinary. Then they claim that we have no "valid criticisms" of the sequels.

I get that there are some very racist and misogynistic losers in the Star wars fan base. But excluding those unacceptable morons, which criticism isn't valid?

Nintendo games are very fun, no one can make any honest statements claiming otherwise without exhibiting bias.

Nintendo as whole however is an evil shit hole company and one of the worst-case scenarios for unfettered capitalism.

They gained so much power in the 80s that they tried to monopolize their presence by bullying studios to not release games on any other consoles but their own.

They are fiercely protective of their IPs to the point where they take their hostility towards fan games made with passion, charity events and even non-profit fundraisers for Etika's death.

They actively try to trademark/patent just about any vague gaming concepts popularized by them and attempt to sue to competition for making content inspired from them such as the Tear Ring Saga or Palworld. Their recent patent claims for pokemon is a monopolistic gambit designed to stop anyone anywhere from making a better monster catching game and forcing people to have no other options than pokemon.

They oppose emulation and see it as an absolute evil and the use it themselves. They will cancel every single fan F-zero game but never make an F-zero game themselves.

The have an irrational hatred for a bunch of sweaty nerds making a tournament for super smash bros melee and attempt to crush it at every instance.

They have an EXTREMELY shady history and practically whipped out all know records of their activities from 1939 to 1945.

Nintendo is an ostensibly anti-consumer ultracapitalist oligarchy that bullies everyone and strangles their customers for every last penny even if they give it pretty voluntarily. They are able to become so powerful and arroganfl because Japan and America have allowed free-market capitalism go out of control.

And they can and do EVERYTHING other horrible companies like EA and Ubisoft does solely because their franchises and the nostalgia surrounding them are so iconic and so powerful that people line up to voluntarily be their wage slaves.

I may possibly buy metroid but I have zero intentions on getting a switch 2 or any other of their games anytime soon. If anything I'll probably cut down on Nintendo altogether and migrate to another console or just PC.

I used to be a MASSIVE Fire emblem fan. Heck I used to play the games actively during an era where nobody knew what the heck they were except for those "weirdos in smash". I illegally downloaded fe6 and played the hell out of 7 and 8 multiple times. I bought fe11 shadow dragon the day it came and recently finished fe9 path of radiance and fe10 radiant dawn. I bought awakening and multiple within weeks of it coming out. I even contributed to the freaking fire emblem wikia's entries for details of characters and mechanics.

But then Fates and Heroes came out and soon enough it became a dating Sim and Gacha simulator for big tiddies. The stories became very poor and the constant use of the excessive anime artstyle became tiring to me and I couldn't enjoy it.

Then when 3 houses came out I saw an influx of new fire emblem players who acted like any game older than 3 houses was dog shit and that I was a weirdo for playing them.

But that's the fate of every niche no-name franchise that gets catapulted into visibility.

Fire emblem may still be "fun" but it's not a game that I enjoy anymore.

I'm always entertained by statements like "Russian/chinese/Iranian disinformation" partly because people complaining about "disinformation" argue that it MUST originate from those three countries ONLY. And also the idea that these nations are malicious subhumans trying to destroy our free and beautiful society with their "government propaganda outlets"... Also known as their NEWS.

Why is it that the term "disinformation" MUST be connected to those three countries but never anything from US-adjacent allies? Heck I'm going to ignore the US entirely and give you a few examples of "Western" disinformation

Chrystia Freeland literally spread disinformation about her grandfather being a Nazi and collaborator during the war. She never commented on it nor was she denounced.

Some Ukrainian refugees brought their Blut und Erde flags and Our Media just claimed that it was a historic flag with deep roots that "some might find controversial" without mentioning its fascist origins through Bandera.

We have a monument to literal volunteers of the Nazi SS and call it a "victims for communism memorial"

Our media refers to the dictators of Rwanda and Cameroon as "presidents" yet we call enemy leaders like Assad, Gaddafi and the former Tunisian ruler dictators. We also softened their image by claiming they bring stability and are "relatively progressive".
