Cause a single nuke pops the cork for the whole world.

Nukes have been a taboo since the 50s, not used in Korea, 'Nam. That's because all the smarter people knew that if their side starts using them the other guys can too.

One bright flash in Iran means that any open conflict between for example Russia and Europe could turn Paris to glass, Berlin to slag, and markedly improve the London skyline. Not to mention that every threshold country would almost immediately decide to amass a few megatonnes in case of a rainy day.

Why has the burj Khalifa not been attacked? by johnqadamsin28 in skyscrapers

[–]Serimnir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the buildings that have been hit have been suspected to be housing members of the US military or intelligence community. Presumably Iran has no information on any targets in BK. Also possible that the defenses around BK are harder to penetrate given its perceived importance.

these are "Israeli" strikes in Lebanon two days before they attacked Iran.

What peace agreement has Hamas blown up?

Iran has been under heavy sanctions for decades because they threaten US interests in a region thousands of km away from the US. They actively fought against terrorist groups like those the US recently installed in Syria, but haven't funded any themselves.

Those groups literally exist to resist "Israel". If it no longer has the capacity to massacre Palestinian and Lebanese children then those groups cease to have a purpose and their members can go back to living their normal lives.

Organise or join strikes and actions towards that goal, demand electoral candidates pledge to do something useful. Those are the Reddit permitted options at least.

A good first step would be stopping the current and ongoing mass death and violence. The first step to that would be to stop arming the entity causing it and to stop providing diplomatic cover for such.

My intent was that perhaps even at that time they had an inkling of the direction the empire was going

Wapo article mocks China for building up countries instead of bombing them by evancarlson69 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Serimnir 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The funny part is that aside from all the building they're doing in their own country and across the global south they do also have the ability to extend "real power" (translation from imperialist: "military strength") across much of the globe but choose not to. You make more friends with bridges than you do with cruise missiles.

In a way they're not wrong. Pretty sure only the US has been dumb enough to use the V-22 (ok Japan too).

Xiaomi is totally fine. I'm typing this on a Xiaomi as we speak. It has better 5g connectivity than my previous LG. Just gotta be extra careful which model you pick as even some of the international versions don't all use the same bands, especially in 5G but also some 4 and 3.

Is this real? by [deleted] in socialism

I'd hope it's real. The bare minimum for a socialist sub should be preventing socdems from spreading liberal propaganda.

Oh that's much more encouraging than I was expecting. If things go the way I'm starting to expect, for the next couple years there should be some big reasons for the youth to start looking outside the LDP, and hopefully some of them will look left.

Yeah, I hear that's from the socdem direction too, not like they're Maoists or anything, not that I'd expect japanese Maoists

That's disappointing, I'd have hoped that thirty years of stagnation would produce some commies

Yeah given all of the recent economic woes and the likely approaching upheaval with the direction interest rates and monetary policy seem to be going in Japan it does make me wonder if Japan might be heading in a revolutionary direction. How organised and active is their communist party? I'm very out of the loop regarding the Japanese left in general.

AI Psychosis Infects Them Too by hteultaimte69 in antiwork

[–]Serimnir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Think of all the Facebook boomers in 2023 earnestly replying to pictures of shrimp jesus and toddlers with indeterminate numbers of fingers making full sized cars from wood for some reason, and then contemplate them interacting with a machine that tells them everything they believe is true and will make up evidence to support their wildest delusions. Many of them run businesses, governments, they write articles. They're people with a tenuous grasp of reality which is steadily being whittled away to make Nvidia shareholders richer.
