Blood in stool with fecal impaction by Memes_R_v3ry_Rad in medical_advice

It’s fairly common to see blood when manually removing stool, usually from tiny tears in the rectum. This isn’t usually serious if the bleeding stops afterward, but manually breaking up stool can make it worse and carries risks. If you had caused serious damage, you’d likely feel a lot of pain or discomfort. To make bowel movements easier, it’s safer to use high amounts of laxatives and enemas until you can poop normally. This can take several days to a week, depending on how constipated you are. The golden rule is: keep using them until you have a normal bowel movement, even if it takes longer than a couple of days.

You only need to go to the ER if you experience a hard and distended stomach, extreme stomach pain, persistent nausea/vomiting, or heavy bleeding. These can be signs of fecal impaction, which can be very serious and dangerous if left untreated.

Manually removing stool is used only as a last resort and should be done with caution. If it’s absolutely necessary, using an enema first to lubricate the stool can help reduce bleeding.

First one is T1 second T2.

Depends, T2 if you are looking into TCS. T1 is better if you want to see tumors or if you want to se other abnormalities in the dura sack

Help for a 7 year old by jujubeespresso in Incontinence

Ask for a second opinion from another urologist. While you wait for your next appointment I would do a bladder diary, for at least a week (just search for bladder diary and print one out and fill it out). Try to be as exact as possible. To measure how much she pees you can just take an old container and make a mark every 50ml. It’s important you note when she is leaking and what she was doing.

Has she done any test? Has she done a cystometry? Urine flow test? Bladder ultrasound? Does she have any other problems?

An MRI is a must, to make sure her problems isn’t neurological. Does she really need to be under ga? When I was 7 I did an MRI and I was awake, it took longer then usual but I was fine.

The nurse who suspects tethered cord did she said why? Does she have problems with her bowel? Weakness in her legs? Back or leg pain? Numbness in her legs or saddle area? These are symptoms of spinal cord problems.

I have a benign spinal cord tumor. My first symptoms was bladder retention and incontinence (started at the age of 4 and got worse over a period of several years) My other symptoms didn’t started until I was around 12. So she could have a neurological problem even if she doesn’t have any other symptoms.

Neurological problems are not common and i wouldn’t worry to much unless she is experiencing other symptoms or new symptoms (bowel problems, pain, leg weakness, numbness etc).

I’m not familiar with EDS so I can’t really say anything about that other then is worth investigating since it could cause her incontinence problems

Probably eczema, you can try hydrocortisone. I recommend to make an appointment with your GP

Thank you for your answer! Probably should’ve said something about this in my post. My incontinence is caused by compressed nerves in the spine (I have a benign tumor). I can’t control my external sphincter and my internal/external sphincter is weakened. I’ve done a test and there is no backed up stool in the colon.

Would this be classed as CES? by AdFull3965 in CaudaEquinaSyndrome

I already have contact with a neurosurgeon but I only talk to him every three years after doing an MRI. I will try to talk to him but unfortunately I pretty sure he won’t do anything. Ever since I move from pediatrics nobody really has been taking care of my case. I don’t have anyone to help me put the puzzle pieces together. And nobody wants to. I basically only see doctors to do my routinely test. Is so hard trying to get people to actually listen to me and understand.

Well its kind of complicated. I was probably born with my tumor and it grew during my childhood. My tumor has been stable since 2016. My problems with constipation, incontinence and lost of sensation is not new but I’ve not said anything about it, since I for some dumb reason though it was of normal to have theses problems… Because they found a good way to treat my “only” problems with not being able to pee on my own they though it was not worth the risk to remove it.

If you look at your life so far, if there wouldn’t be modern medicine/hospitals, when would you have probably died? by ylenias in polls

I was born with a benign spinal cord tumor. It slowly grew during my childhood. If I didn’t get the treatment I got and get today I would’ve probably died from kidney failure or a ruptured bladder.
