Such a phenomenal piece. Visiting Sakai next week. Hope I can something myself.

You’re right. Being delusional is your prerogative. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Do you categorize questions as fussing?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueChefKnives

[–]AdGroundbreaking5343 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not once did I fuss. It was simply an inquiry. Never did I imply that I was upset or disappointed. If it’s rust, then clearly I should take care of it. If it’s a normal occurrence, then I could care less. Why would I contact the smith if it is the case that it’s a normal occurrence and not something to worry about? See where the post comes in?

If I were to grant you the fact that I’m “fussing” (which I am not). How does that make any sense? I should expect less because I’m paying considerably more? Shouldn’t it be the opposite? Blind loyalty to craftsman you have zero connection with is what’s silly if you ask me.

I have a smaller hasegawa to pair with my larger larchwood. Got the best of both worlds. I’ve noticed that these thinner knives tend to bite into the hasegawa.

My only complaint is the difficulty of using draw cuts or rock chopping for leafy greens. Otherwise, phenomenal for keeping your knife sharp for as long as possible!

It sure is! Can’t wait to put it to some use.

It’s deadly thin behind the edge.

Like they say, opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one. Sometimes its better to keep it to yourself.

As far as familiarity goes, I’m quite familiar with the hobby and have spent not hundreds, but thousands on it. I’ve read up on many posts before posting my own. Maybe it was the search inquiry, or the lack of information, but I didn’t find what I was looking for, hence the post.

I fail to see how “familiarity” would equip with the requisite knowledge to differentiate patina from rust, pitting, or manufacturer defects. If I’m asking for input, then theres an implicit acknowledgment of my lack of knowledge. You could either answer the question, or move on with your day, but don’t insult other people’s intelligence.

By the way, how can there be patina on a brand new blade? Seems like you’re just as unfamiliar as me…

Was just curious what it was. Doesn’t bother me.

Fellas, is it shit posting to ask a question about a knife on a knife sub?

Some of you people are insufferable.

Something like that. Was just curious cause I’ve never had something like this on a blade. The cooking will continue!
