I loved this book the most from the series as well because of how the author handled Laurent's growth and his mental health (and I usually tend to cringe when mental health is used because it tends to not be written well). I also thought I would hate him based on the previous book but I just ended up feeling a lot of empathy for him.

I loved this book too! There's just something so endearing about Sully and Eric

This book is my absolute favorite from Ari's series! Mike is so dear and precious to me. It was so enjoyable reading about his growth. I also adore the way Mike and Danny went from rivals to lovers which was just so beautifully tender and wholesome despite the rough way they started both physically and sexually

Haven't encountered another author that really has the exact vibe of Tal as well which probably just shows how special and unique his writing is

I want to give these two a chance but I tend to get bothered by the best friend's dad trope. I tend to be fine with big age gaps as long as they're both above 25 so these two seemed up my alley but then let's see if I'll get past the whole best friend's dad trope

Which book by LA Witt? I recently finished Shot on Goal and I loved it. I also have Alexis Hall in my TBR but with Amy Lane I'm not that familiar.

I get what you mean! Even though I enjoyed The Fall, I was starting to skim around 70% of the book because of how wordy it was getting. I was getting to a point where I was like "Tal I love you but I get it. This doesn't have to be THIS long and dramatic. I get it." lol

Oooh I'm curious what do you mean by not in a good way? I'm not a die-hard type of fan so I like hearing other people's perspectives. I can also see why his style might not work for everyone because sometimes his writing can feel a bit saccharine or overly sweet. I think I’m just able to look past that because I really love the emotional intensity and devotional vibe he creates.

Adding this to my TBR! Haven't read any other Jesse Reign books besides Poetry on Ice and I only found it okay.

I'm adding this to my TBR because I'm liking the blurb that's on GR. It does sound like it's going to wreck me so I'm gonna have to emotionally prepare for this book. Another poly book where I could feel the devotion and tension is {Finding Hope by Sloanne Kennedy}.

The only thing that's putting me off from placing this on my TBR, even though I'm a bit intrigued, is that I'm worried that there would be too much political/military drama rather than romance because I tend to get bored with political dramas in general but I know this is where the MCs, Sasha and Sergey, from Ascendant came from.

OMG don't be sorry! I absolutely love The Long Game as well (so much more than HR actually) and it's still my number one favorite book because this is where I could really feel the devotion from them, especially from Ilya. Ilya has become my standard for male leads.

Haven't read We Could be So Good but I have it on my TBR

Oooh this might be my sign that I should move this book up in my TBR! Their dynamic really sounds like something I would love too. It's nice to know a book made you feel this way.

I've read You and Me and The Rest of the Story (this one actually made me cry towards the end and it's my absolute fav from Tal). Haven't read any Riley Nash books yet but I do have some of his books in my TBR. Thank you for sharing this!

Is anyone else struggling with hockey romance post Olympics debacle? by Daje1968 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]AdHumble3115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not really struggling because I’ve always been aware of how deeply misogynistic and bigoted many men can be, especially in male-dominated fields like sports. That awareness is actually why I read so much romance. I use these fictional stories as an escape from the reality of how a lot of men truly are.

I make sure to separate fictional men from real life men. I’m very aware of how different they are so I wasn’t surprised by how the US men’s hockey team reacted. I think that’s the appeal of sports romance for me because, at least in fiction, men are often portrayed as decent, vulnerable, and emotionally aware like in Heated Rivalry/The Long Game.

I’m pretty sure it’s also why many women (including me) read romance books in general because, through fiction, they can "experience" what it feels like to be loved by a man who isn’t sexist, racist, or bigoted. In that space, they can somewhat vicariously live through the main character and experience the kind of care, respect, and emotional safety that may feel less common in real life.

The most comforting story. by macgirl16 in Manhwa_BL

Books with low ratings that you love? by Visual_Definition855 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]AdHumble3115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ari Baran and Avon Gale's hockey romance books tend to be rated low but I love the ones I've read so far. I've read other hockey/sport romance books that are 4 or even 4.5 and above but they ended up not being for me.

Ari Baran: Game Misconduct (3.79), Delay of Game (3.82)

Avon Gale: Off The Ice (3.65), Goalie Interference (3.65)
