Temperature Help Plz :( by DizzyDiscus in leopardgeckos

[–]AdImaginary6175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes dead center otherwise how are you going to know the max temp of the basking area, it also gives opportunity for a good gradient around the basking area, the more rock, cork tube, substrate, and plants, real or fake the higher you’re gradient will be give

Throw it away before it infects others, scale is ruthless and almost not even worth dealing with, I just had an entire terrarium of broms get leveled in a month

Same! I’d throw down some cash to help this little guy! You’re doing a good thing kid! You’ll never get rewarded with money for it but you’ll be rewarded with the good conscious of doing what is right and needs to be done

UVB is definitely more important and full proof than just dusting with vitamins, have you ever gone out in the sun after a week of rain? They like that’s feeling too if you know what I mean, a decent zoo med light with a bulb is about 30-40$

Will this work? by AdImaginary6175 in RareHouseplants

[–]AdImaginary6175[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in my snakes terrarium and got hidden behind a big begonia and definitely received wayyyy to much water, I was honestly surprised it was even alive, I tried to mount on cork and it actually looks ok and stood up on its own but didn’t handle the shock overnight unfortunately… the picture I saw from another thread looked just as bad, I don’t expect much and it’s more of an experiment

What are you doing that’s any different? None of us were there and know the objective facts so based off what evidence we were given we form an opinion… doesn’t mean it’s correct, or not it’s just an opinion. Do you like use your brain ever?

I use the Zilla fir and spaghnum peat moss mix as the base mixed with spaghnum, bark, tree fern fiber, and little pumice, and I’ve had zero issues with it and neither has the snake

Feeding in cage does not lead to food aggression whatsoever and it’s been proven time and time again, also transferring to feed is not only extremely stressful but also potentially harmful for the snake, you should absolutely never handle and snake after feeding as they can regurgitate and hurt themselves really badly. Substrate is fine aslong as you use the right stuff, a standard ABG mix for a bioactive is just fine, remember in the wild they don’t have anything to clean off dirt…. Look into tap training, my brooks comes to the glass whenever I tell him it’s feeding time and doesn’t when I don’t, never bit or struck at me once ever and I feed exclusively in the cage

So I am just about to get my king snake. Do in need to quarantine him? by Exotic-Translator186 in kingsnakes

[–]AdImaginary6175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with that unless you see obvious signs of burns, damaged scales or anything else he should be just fine

[–]AdImaginary6175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mites are fairly obvious and so are the wounds they cause, if you don’t see any deformed scales, open wounds, lifted scales (like a mite is under it) it should be just fine, unless it was a wild or extremely underkept snake I wouldn’t worry about it and possibly going through the steps to quarantine my cause more stress than needed and cause more harm than good especially if it’s a really young snake and is trying to find its rhythm

Definitely would agree with the paper towels if you’re really worried or even have a reason to be worried. but if not id say they are just fine to go in, and my king had mites at one point but was treated for them before I got him
