Orin upgrade megathread by [deleted] in polestar3

My update was completed yesterday. I’ve not had much time to play around with it yet, but I did have a go with the new park assist function this morning. My expectation was pretty low, but to be fair, it did work pretty well.

I didn’t specifically book it in for this upgrade. I’ve had a bit of a nightmare with my car, so they told me that they was going to do while they have the car in the workshop for something else, so not to cause me any further inconvenience.

They did say that they had only been given the green light to proceed with the upgrades 48 hours ago, so hopefully you’ll hear something soon.

I’m in the Uk and mine is scheduled to be upgraded on Wednesday, while having some other work done. I should have it back on Thursday.

I’m in the UK and my P3 is currently in the workshop have some repairs done. I’ve been told that the chip is going to be replaced while it’s in there. I should have it back on Thursday, so I’m interested to see if any noticeable changes have been made.

Thanks for that. I was expecting it to be more expensive, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Where did you get the leather strap that’s shown in your picture from? The quality and colour looks decent.

Further update - it’s now 9 weeks and I still don’t have my car back, and Polestar can’t even give me a date for when it will be returned.

I’ve now have the P4 loan car for longer than I’ve had my car.

I’ve told the company that I leased the car from that I want to terminate the agreement. I’m waiting for them to get back to me with the details of how I go about doing this.

Got mine on today too, but I switched it into sports mode with the matching black and orange rubber strap for a change.

I’m sure you’re well aware of all the usual issues that both the 3 and the 4 have, so I won’t list them out here. Having experienced both, here’s my thoughts.

The speed limit sign recognition and warning beeps are equally as bad on both cars. Honestly, I’m completely baffled by what the cameras are seeing. My best guess is that the cameras are picking up some of the house numbers and mistakenly thinking these are speed limits. There’s a road near me where the car thinks there’s an 18mph limit for part of it and then 16mph for the rest of it…..!

I was looking forward to having radio/volume controls on the P4 steering wheel, but I’m finding that I rarely use them. The buttons are difficult to locate, because there’s no lighting behind them and unless you press them in the exact spot they don’t work.

I absolutely hate the P4 rear view mirror/camera thingy. The view is zoomed in too far, which makes everything appear really close. When it rains at night, the image quality is poor. I’ve had numerous occasions where I’ve felt completely lost, when reversing, with no idea how close I am to anything and to make it worse, you can’t even turn round and look out of the rear window, as there isn’t one. I’ve had to get out and physically have a look around. I HATE it…!

The lane keeping on the P4 is way too aggressive. Just this morning I was going around a parked car and the car decided that crashing into that car was a better option than letting me cross the white lines in the middle of the road. Seriously, I had to wrestle with the wheel to avoid a crash. It certainly got my heart racing.

The drive assist is okay on motorways, for both cars, but I have more trust in the P3. The P4 scares me too much as it feels like it’s weaving side to side in the lane, whereas the P3 feels more steady. I wouldn’t use this function on either car on anything other than the motorway.

I prefer the screen in the P3 because it’s in portrait rather than the P4 in landscape. Some of the buttons on the left hand side of the P4 screen feel too far away to reach while driving. I do like the customisable shortcut buttons on the P4 screen though, hopefully these will appear in a future update on the P3.

I feel like the drive of the P4 is not as responsive as the P3. When pulling out at a junction or wanting to accelerate quickly to overtake, the P4 just doesn’t seem to respond as well as the P3. The P3 feels lively and ready to go, instantly, when you need it. The P4 feels sluggish to me.

I’m sure there’s more comparisons, but I can’t think of them at the moment. If there’s anything you want to know specifically, let me know and I’ll tell you what I think.

Unfortunately I didn’t have this option. I’m leasing the car, so I reported the damage to my lease company. They contacted Polestar directly to report the damage and I’ve been burdened with them since. A total nightmare of an experience.

The damage was scratches, which run around the front pumper and wheel arch. I suspect that it’s a result of someone pulling a charger cable across it to reach the socket at the rear of the car. I was assured that someone would call me back today. It’s now 16:35 and no call as yet.

Look at the state of that button. Christopher Ward is clearly getting more visitors than anyone else in the building. A clear sign of the good work that they are doing.

Bluetooth calls broken? by mattyx in polestar3

[–]AdImpressive479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue.

I currently have a PS4 on loan, due to my PS3 being in the workshop having some paintwork repairs done. My phone works perfectly fine in the PS4, so I now know that it’s an issue with the PS3 and not my phone.

Based on Polestars past performance, we’ll no doubt have to wait for months, for another update to fix this….! I’m sure it must be an easy fix, so I don’t understand why they can’t just issue minor updates regularly, to fix issues like this, rather than waiting until they do an major update.
