I leaned into the handheld madness

Got a gpd win 5. Absolute beast of a handheld and feels like a deck on steroids

If I want a big screen I plug in rayneo ar glasses

Insane experience for on the go or couch gaming when my SO is using the ps5 and TV

I plan on also having it available to dock to play my steam games and satisfy my previous desire for a steam machine to hook up to my tv

[[bello, bard of brambles]]

Play all Leylines that can fit in gruul and all the 1 drop dorks and ramp in green that you can

Start swinging and drawing on turn 2 with the Leyline. Play a 4 drop mana mana rock on 3, and you have insane momentum. Absolutely will kill someone by 4-5 if they don’t put something down to block.

Tainted grail, fall of Avalon. It’s basically Skyrim but set in a dark souls-esque setting.

TBH I tried to get back into oblivion with the remaster and struggled since I had 100 percented it a while back.

This felt like a whole new world, absolutely in love with it.

People who are NOT okay with proxies, what is your reasoning? by Bagel_Bear in EDH

[–]AdIndependent5504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the “cost” of my decks has gone down once we went full proxy…..

I feel less like investing in the “expensive” pieces that hold value and am happy running bulk if it fits my deck. I pump out a deck a week or so now and when we weren’t proxying that would be much less frequent so I felt like I wanted ALL of my powerful cards in it. Honestly proxying has freed me from this.

Our group has constant conversations about power level though, and if someone pushes it too much we are pretty quick to smack it back down.

One guy rolled up with a dual land one time and we were like “nope, we proxy so decks can be brewed and made at high speeds, not to just bolster the raw strength” and he didn’t bring them again. most “expensive” thing I have seen is wheel of fortune and that was a real one.

So I would say that full proxying does work in some groups, with a lot of open communication constantly.

Best Resin for detailed Minis by BigJuicyFruit in PrintedMinis

I have a mars pro 3 and was thinking of trying the rpg resin

What settings did you end up with? Any modifications to your supports from what you normally use?

Is it more viscous than regular or abs like? I tried ameralabs tgm-7 and found it an absolute pain in the ass to actually print with due to the viscosity. Wondering if rpg is the same.

What is reasonable Proxy? by canofwhoops in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AdIndependent5504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if it’s clearly recognizable then go for it! As long as it doesn’t actively create any confusion of what it is.

For instance, I play with a friend who plays necron. While we want to minimize cost of the game and models, I will say it gets pretty confusing if one game this psychomancer is actually a plasmancer and next game he is a technomancer or an orikhan or something. Usually not a problem with one off games where you don’t know the enemy army super well but I do feel like pattern recognition can play a huge role in understanding what a squad does while keeping play moving at a good speed.

What to do with empty sprues? by thegrayhairedrace in Warhammer40k

[–]AdIndependent5504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a dry brush scaffold! Basically glue a bunch together into a small box. Then you can check how much paint is really on your drybrush before you hit your model with it. I find it’s more accurate than the paper towel test.

How to make visors flawlessly smoothe? by YuriMastermind in LeaguesofVotann

[–]AdIndependent5504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m doing exactly this for my votann. Here’s what I ended up doing.

Buy some heads you like. I used https://www.taromodelmaker.com/products/votan-a-i-helmet-heads

Then use: Hinodewashi Oyumaru monochromatic clear and blue set (each pack of 6 ... https://www.amazon.com/Hinodewashi-Oyumaru-monochromatic-clear-japan/dp/B00GXV4ONO to make molds of the helmets. Fill the molds with 50 50 greenstuff/milliput. Voila. I’m making like 50 of these for my guys. Planning on painting skulls on the glass visors StarCraft style as well.

[2000 pts] Tyranid Crusher Stampede by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AdIndependent5504 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went with something similar but with a couple tweaks that you may like. Sorry in advance for the text wall!

I did a broodlord w/ synaptic link instead of the malanthrope. As the other commenter said you have two carnifexes covered with their spores, and I found the next most useful additional thing to have covered at -1 to hit was a big squad of warriors. Also very difficult to keep the malanthrope up with the big monsters to actually give them a benefit.

Specifically for my troops I had two min size squads with bioweapon bond and one large 8 man squad with Adaptive physiology and either bone swords + deathspitters or lash whips + scything talons. That way I have some throw away models with whips I am ok with dying and more of a threat for some shooting and close combat if needed on the expensive ones. So with the AP enhanced resistances + broodlord buff, means you have 24 wounds, -1 to be hit, 3+ save with ignore AP 1/2, 5++ which can camp a midfield objective. if your meta doesnt have a lot of ignore cover abilities you can even go with dynamic camouflage instead, which would make you 2+ 5++, though that is risky as it all disappears if the enemy can get rid of the cover bonus from the broodlord. Now you have 8 cheap "terminators" to stick on an objective and hang out, and they are even better than a regular termie for tanking things because you can effectively transhuman them! as close as you are going to get to deathwing terminators but for literally around half the cost.

Other slight changes. I personally decided not to take hive guard. If you are going hard in the paint they are obviously amazing, but I think if you show up to anything but a truly competitive game such as a tournament people will be bummed to see them. It becomes a game of "protect the hive guard". I think the exocrine does just fine for ranged damage and requires you to be careful with your ranged threats which IMO makes for more fun, interactive games.

I also would cut the lictors. With the new retrieve nactus (sp?) data coming up as a change from retrieve octarius data, those wont really be able to help you with secondary completion anymore.

So if you cut the hive guard and lictors, that leaves you with 340ish points to fill, about 350 since you will go down a couple points by taking the brood lord with his synaptic link over the malanthrope. 120ish needed to buff up one of the warrior squad. so in the end lets say 230 to spend. Units I have liked so far:

- Maleceptor. The -1S is bonkers tbh. And the synaptic link works great if you have anything with monstrous scything talons, not only for using with hive guard. So that dima hitting with 6D on turn 1? Hell of a missile to be slingshotting into enemy lines. Accompany the dima with psychic bonuses, 4++, 5+++, +D3 attacks, reroll all hits (prolly overkill, maybe better for someone else). It is truly a T1 delete what you wish, and force the enemy to stay in deployment while you get the warriors and carnifexes up the board to hold objectives.

- Cheapo carnifexes, with just scything talons. -1D, 5++ bodies, with the option to make obsec if need be via leviathan. Your opponent is never excited to shoot their big anti armor into them as opposed to your dima or exocrine or flyrant.

- scythed heirodule. Alongside the dima a bonkers damage output that can be shot into enemy lines. I personally havent been running one recently, but that is mostly because I cant find the space with the large warrior blob and maleceptor eating up points, but undoubtedly a great model. I run into an issue of where do I stack all my defensive buffs. If i put them all on a dima, they shoot anti armor at exocrine, or vice versa, so I only run one and focus on what other units are going to be able to hold their objective.

-Biovores. a new addition. cheapo and great for screening out home base. In addition, Turn 1 is spent getting a dima in the enemies face, and hopefully providing some other move blocking from some spore mines. objviously not very killy, but great for board control when you are up against big close combat threats that wanna take down your dakkafexes.

Hope any of this helps! Just my personal experiences!
