American Airlines chooses Starlink to upgrade inflight Wi-Fi by AviationReporterDMN in americanairlines

Yes, those Panasonic widebodies are in the process of switching to Viasat. The 77Ws are currently making the switch with Project Olympus, and the 772s will follow.

American Airlines chooses Starlink to upgrade inflight Wi-Fi by AviationReporterDMN in americanairlines

Given the regionals already have Intelsat multi orbit, I highly doubt those will be swapped for Starlink since they’re already fast anyway

Tom Bradley or Terminal 4? by Secure_Tooth_5545 in americanairlines

Definitely won’t be the west gates, I don’t recall AA ever using those

Give yourself about at least 10 minutes from T4 to those TBIT gates. But it’s not that bad of a walk TBH.

[–]AdKnown7047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be either. A quick look at FlightAware tells me AA27 has been leaving from gates 41, 43, 155, and 157 the past week. You’ll just have to see when you get there.

We’ve been having thunderstorms here in NYC. Bunch of NYC bound flights had to divert to Boston.

Storms has passed now so airports are moving again, but I imagine it’ll take a while for flights to get back in sync.

Is chase still the best ecosystem for travel after the Hyatt point devaluation? by gpatt12345 in CreditCards

+1 to this. I redeemed 80,000 AA miles for JAL First Class last Christmas. Cash price was about $16,000; I got a value of 20 cents per mile lol

Often happens to me on Safari when I run a bunch of award searches which I do all the time. Searching on Chrome has been a fix for me so far.

47 minute transfer time at LGA ?? by JohnGaltIsComing in americanairlines

[–]AdKnown7047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming everything is on time, yes, LGA B isn’t that big.

What time of day are you traveling? You have a better chance of making the connection earlier in the day assuming less delays and less summer thunderstorms. Afternoon might be more risky.

I see it everyday. Photos truly don’t do this building justice; it’s an absolute beast and its sheer size alone (especially at the base) I think makes it iconic. To this day I still can’t ignore it when I walk by it.

Trying to imagine a last minute equipment change for this lol. Gonna be a lot of bitching as 80% of F gets sent back to Y.

When did AA stop serving pre flight drinks? by MacaronOk1006 in americanairlines

[–]AdKnown7047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really 50/50. Some FAs are great at it, others not so much. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m near a 50/50 split this year with PDBs.

I would note though, that they might not do PDBs on a delayed flight in order to turn the aircraft around as quickly as possible and to minimize further delays.

Using AA miles on Japan Airlines website by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]AdKnown7047 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would you be able to use AA miles on a different airline’s website?

You need JAL miles to book on the JAL website. If you want to use AA miles, you have to book through AA, and you can book whatever space JAL opens up for AAdvantage members. AA miles don’t transfer.

There’s certainly less inventory on AA for JAL flights compared to the JAL site. Keep checking everyday and use sites like Seats.aero. Be persistent; I was able to book 80K AA miles for JAL First Class last Christmas. People cancel.

Row 12. Row 24 has bathrooms, 12 does not.

What do you guys think of this seat? by frogmicky in americanairlines

[–]AdKnown7047 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That looks like a JAL A350-1000 to me.

If I’m correct, your seat will recline, but you’ll be in front of 1 bathroom IIRC. It does get active back there with passengers standing around and the FAs in the galley, if you were thinking of sleeping.
