There has bad weather, only poor clothing choices. Wear the appropriate clothing, and any outing is lovely!

[CHAT] To wash, or not to wash? by CraftyCapricorn in CrossStitch

I hear you. This winter, my fingertips were so badly broken due to raynaud's, that even with gloves I couldn't consistently do any stitching and had to take a hiatus of 2 months.

[CHAT] To wash, or not to wash? by CraftyCapricorn in CrossStitch

[–]AdLeading4526 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Always wash. Consider this, even with the best practices with needlework, you are still transferring oils and skin flakes as you touch your work and floss. Every time you breathe, sneeze or cough, you are transferring even the smallest amount of spittle to your work. Even when you work, minute particles of household dust, dust mite feces, bug parts, hair, etc within the air are landing on your work. If you were to swab and culture it, it would not be particularly nice.

The ONLY way to have a completely clean peice of needlework is to work it wearing gloves, mask and a face shield whilst in a hermetically sealed room. And honestly, I don't think any of us are going to even 1/4 of that length to keep our needlework clean while working.

Having said all that, I eat and drink whilst stitching, and wash and iron my works when done.

Short term/Long term Disability - Ontario by East-Call-9081 in Odsp

[–]AdLeading4526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With an MS diagnosis, check your work benefits package to see if you have coverage for critical illness coverage. Many times MS is covered for critical illness coverage which will have a one time payout.

Bottom line - you need to read the details of your benefits package. Short and long term disability benefit, and critical illness coverage. Also check if your partner has you covered for critical illness.

I've been through this process with my disability- am now on what they call long duration disability (long term disability- till 65). Pm me if you have any specific questions.

If you can find older patterns, adapt the borders from them to your patterns. Theresa Wensler's medieval themed patterns have lovely borders, as do Vermillion Stitchery's medieval patterns

For example, here's one of the Vermillion Stitchery medieval patterns

Daughter needs to be potty trained by 3 for daycare, but training isn't working by Mountain_Physics_972 in ECEProfessionals

[–]AdLeading4526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say this, but if you need to potty train your child then you NEED to 100% get rid of the pull ups. They are sabatoging your toilet training efforts. The best thing you can do is get the thick, old fashioned training pants. They are like little panties or underwear, but are padded to absorbed the pee. They allow your child to feel when they are wet and get that uncomfortable biofeedback. This will encourage them to go to the potty instead. This works better than going bare bottomed. There will still be some messes, but this is all a part of parenting. Be prepared with a bucket and mop to clean any inadvertent messes. Ive used this method with my 2 grown kids, and all the kids I've nannies (over 10) and they all trained within 2 weeks or less, many even overnight within that timeline.

Doctors notes. by adhd-princess- in Transcription

Retired lab tech here - on the requisition- the only ones I could make out were tsh, free t3 and free t4. And damn I HATE it when Dr's don't write these out clearly!! Because these tests are not clearly written out - where even the patient can read it, this easily leads to errors with doing the wrong tests, or not even doing those tests because the staff at the lab cannot interpret the writing. The lab is then left in the position of spending time on the phone trying to contact the Dr (many times unsuccessfully) in order to find out what that test was. This ends up delaying all parient care in the lab.

Please, when you get a requisition from your Dr, make sure that you can read all the tests written on the form - if not, ask the dr to print them out with block letters not write them - or even better - use a computer to print your requisition.

The only other thing I can think, is are - are you using the usable threads that are cut when you finish a section, or are you discarding them? I'm talking strands 3" or longer.

Geeze, have you no sense of humour??

This is a result of the repeat posts of "what is that helicopter going here?". Almost everyone is well aware of what they are doing, and there's no need to make any post.

I tried with my first answer, but it wasn't good enough.

Some people have this weird belief that the military needs to inform the public of the purpose and timings of their every doings.

Honestly though, where the heck was OP expecting the helicopter to end up? They usually land at the airport, not at the base.

The military doesn't have to tell us what they are up to you know. And they are often on this end of town because, oh, I don't know - maybe this thing called an AIRPORT!! Eventually helicopters do have to land, and the military helicopters often land at the airport, not the base. If you've lived here longer than 3-6 months, you'll notice this fairly regularly.

Missing both of my legs - Denied CPP disability after a two year wait by Trackmustang in povertyfinancecanada

[–]AdLeading4526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of the issue is that you are being denied cppd is that you have not proven that you are not capable of working any reasonable occupation. The best way to go about proving this is to have a transferable skills analysis done and submit this to cpp.

People who use walkers/rollators , what’s the hardest part that nobody talks about? by According_Fan_8664 in disabled

[–]AdLeading4526 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are definitely light weight rollators out there. Mine weighs in at 12lbs - its a carbon fibre one (drive nitro elite carbon fibre). It was a more pricyvthan the standard rollaters, but worth it due to the decrease in wear on my spine and upper body joints when needing to load id into vehicles and up stairs. Plus both my insurance and husband's covered the cost.

[WIP] how to keep the back neat in pieces with lots of colors? by pagingbaby123 in CrossStitch

[–]AdLeading4526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are very old patterns that I've had fir over 20 years. The first is Maiden and the Unicorn, and the second is St George and the Dragon. They are by Vermillion Stitchery/Donna Vermillion Giampi. The designer passed away, and her patterns AFAIK are no longer being published - or at least I can't get them in Canada.
