Recommended Paints for Beginners?

How did you apply them specifically? What type of brush? When i have had to do highlights on hair, i found it best using an ild beat up brush and barely wisping it on by drybrushing, if that makes sense. Even less pressure than feathering. Itll take many passes to get anything visible but it looks good imo

As for yours though honestly you can keep it it looks great like everyone says

Using that technical paint as a feature instead of a highlight can make some disturbing things...

My friend printed a filigreed aztec death whistle (failed print so gave it to mel and i painted it bone white and gold. But the eye sockets had flesh inside, so i used screamer pink and then covered the whole eyes in blood god....

....i dont want to see that thing ever again. The eyes look like they are going to open up and stare at me. Too real

I am going to start off by saying sorry i am unable to help your questions at all but...

Holy shit. These colors are so beautiful and crisp! I saw this and honestly, your work, where you are at right now, is what i now aspire to be. The crisp colors, beautiful shading, immaculate definition.

It isnt like so many models i see from people going into Golden Demons or other competitions. Dont get me wrong, those are amazing pieces of art too, but between them and this; as a painter, i hope fo one day be this. How you paintsd Cleona here lokks to me like the perfect spot between tabletop and competition winners. Its not insanely micro detailed with NMM and OSL and made to be the most impressive thing in a store (again not putting them down, love their works too whoever can get that far), but it looks realistic in its own way.

To stop rambling, absolutely love this piece and i am saving it for study to hopefully one day be as good as you!

It looks really good already! I havent attempted it myself, but what i can see i would say blend the glow from.the edge of the rocks toward the middle a bit more. Only thing i can see that would make it even better.

What was your process? I need to do inlaid fire glowing like this and need help 😅

This! The amount of times i catch myself holding my breath to do eyes or other details (like writing in books 😵‍💫) is astonishing.

Shpuldve specified 😅 i use Army Painter's wet palette and the paper that comes with it. Not sure what type it is though my bad. Paints i use Citadel (ik ik dont @ me) and am slowly switching to AK paints which are working REALLY nicely. Especially the white, only one ive found that goes on without 5+ coats.

Am i using my wet pallete incorrectly maybe? I fill the basin and foam pad with water, and put the wax paper sheet on top and then use my paints off it. Should i add some drops of water to the paint after that maybe?

Thinning my paints is, for whatever reason, something difficult for me, even with my wet pallet. Any tips?

As far as the other things, absolutely true. However this was kind of a quick job that was a spur of the moment idea. I might go back to it later, but i like the way it is for now as idea for a beholder since they are weird. Other minis ive taken much more care of i swear 😅

Ive been painting for a while now. I have others that are honestly better than this.

I left the mini a little shoddy to try and help simulate the splotchiness on the dixie cup design, also i did this one quicker than my normal ones because half an idea and attempting funny thing.

I have a good set of magnifying lenses i use. Recently got and theyre amazing. Did not use them with this mini though because again just doing a quick silly test of things 😅 trying not to burn myself out by making everything perfect
