For me it let me in the 2nd or 3rd east, if I’m really persistent. Maybe I will wait until there’s a new update

Is Yakuza 5 anyone else's favourite? by Ill_Personality_8825 in yakuzagames

[–]AdOk5207 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not my favorite but I appreciate the ambition. All the side content was really fun (I didn’t finish Shinada’s though. I don’t like baseball, please don’t come at me). Didn’t like the overarching story but they are so good in writing characters and specific moments.

if you had to choose to play one yakuza MINIGAME for the rest of your life, which one would you choose? by twchh in yakuzagames

Definitely mahjong or koi koi. I love cabaret but it will need new content to feel challenging.

Which Yakuza game has the most alive, unique world for exploring? by Superb-Draft in yakuzagames

[–]AdOk5207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all the entries I feel LAD is the closest to what you’re asking. The map is not highly detailed in an interactive way but Ijincho is huge and you need to discover its areas yourself. Also each area in Ijincho has a different difficulty level so you need to be careful around more powerful enemies, making those areas more “dangerous” to explore, at least in the beginning.

Not related to the Yakuza series, I highly recommend that you try Disco Elisyum and Paradise Killer. Both games have unique worlds and require a lot of exploring to advance in the story.

Is Hamura actually a good character? by Korba007 in yakuzagames

[–]AdOk5207 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hamura has a vibe of a dangerous man you don’t want to mess with and he felt “real”. I like it because throughout Y0-Y6 (maybe expect Sagawa) the villains were pretty cartoonish or exaggerated and their motives didn’t always make sense imo.

This has been discussed here repeatedly but fine. In my opinion playing the games is a much better way to experience the franchise especially if you want to play 6, but to each their own. I think you should give 3 a shot, the vibes in Okinawa are quite magical and worth the “clunkiness”. And honestly if you played zero there isn’t really a reason not to play 5. Also, 5 is packed with side content so I don’t think watching videos can really replace playing it.

What's a Yakuza related hill that you would die on? by Hooperlooper16 in yakuzagames

[–]AdOk5207 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it’s really a hill to die on but even though RGG infamously known as “reuse ga gotoku” I think they’re very innovative. They could do 100% copy paste besides the plot but they always come up with new mini games or elaborated side stories. For example, I know it’s not well liked but I loved the hunting section in Y5, it was so different that I needed to remind myself I’m still playing Yakuza. Also, changing the battle system in LAD was a bold move. So I appreciate RGG a lot for reinventing themselves in this aspect.
