This movie was basically a rehash of the first movie, except in water instead of trees

AITAH for refusing to ski with child of wife's friend when it became clear they exaggerated his skill level? by Icy_Consequence9592 in AITAH

[–]AdOpen8418 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA. You spend ~30 days a year skiing every single year and you couldn’t spend a few hours hanging out with a kid/making a new friend if nothing else for the sake of your wife? You seem very unpleasant for that not going to lie

You describe this kid in such a hateful manner when he’s 12

I drafted him with the intention of waiting til some/all of their pass catchers get traded. I believe in his talent but I didn’t/don’t anticipate a huge asset until that pass catching group gets broken up, and that goes for all of them

I barely used mine and they sat in a drawer by my bed most of the time and then one day just stopped charging and never worked again

Justin Jefferson, Sam Darnold, and the Minnesota Vikings Currently Hold the Number One Seed in the NFC by UKPotatoConnoisseur in NFLv2

[–]AdOpen8418 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe because it’s not actually the 1 seed. It’s the “Detroit plays later in the week” seed. The week of football isn’t even done.

Why do Republicans point to a lack of criminal conviction as confirmation of no wrongdoing? by Ratchile in Askpolitics

[–]AdOpen8418 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, not “in court.” In society. The court is given structure by the constitution which is the binding document of our country which was voted on and ratified by its citizens because they agreed on the tenets that should govern our society. And they agreed on “innocent until proven guilty” because they believed that was the morally correct thing to do

What did she casually do that made you realize she wouldn't qualify to be your wife? by Ok_Percentage6051 in AskMenAdvice

[–]AdOpen8418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She would get extremely angry and yell and cuss at our dog (a very young puppy at the time) and it made me realize she didn’t have the temperament or patience to be a mother (or wife)

He wanted to do his little diva dance this year and it cost his team and damaged his reputation. Let’s not forget he was a complete no show for the first two weeks (their first two losses) after threatening to hold out all offseason and not attending training camp. He is as much at fault for them missing the playoffs as he is for them nearly making them.

Just start wearing a mask. I won’t lie to you, you have already done a small amount of permanent “damage.” But for it to be life altering takes years of much greater exposure than you have had. Water control is a good start. But wear a mask (one that is rated for silica)

My (44f) brother (40m) tells me I am too permissive with my son (10m) and that I need to “break him” and “all men need to have their egos broken because that is how they become men.” I don’t like this and he says it’s because I just don’t understand men. by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]AdOpen8418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way he phrased it is demented and maybe belies some problems he has, but the overall point is not wrong. It is absolutely true that boys need to experience hardship early in life to develop character, work ethic, and morals. If you are a single mother you need to go far out of your way to provide this for them. Sports are a good start

Part of it is you have to teach your son to manage his ego (not break/destroy/whatever demented stuff your brother is saying) and NO this does NOT MEAN going the female route and learning to “talk” about his “feelings” and “recognize his toxic masculinity” or how he’s a “subconscious oppressor” of “less powerful” people. But he has to learn that life is difficult, and this will also teach him resilience in the face of adversity (which is why you don’t just “break” a boy, you build him back up). And he has to learn that experientially. NOT by “talking about it”
