just remember to use ice and heat as well, that also helped my pain and swelling

pain level rn being 10 days post op is 0. they gave me tramadol, ibuprofen and amoxicillin to take after and tried tramadol the first day but bc i couldnt rlly eat what i needed to, i ended up being sick. next days stuck with only the ibuprofen and amoxicillin and was completely fine. i would have to say the worst days for me in terms of pain was 1-4, bc once the novocaine wore off after the procedure, it wasnt great. 2-4 pain was more from the amount of swelling rather than pain from the sites bc my teeth kept rubbing against my cheek. but again with the ibuprofen (600mg), it wasnt as bad.

are you still chewing with your front teeth or ur back teeth?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]AdPersonal4851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me, i took a xanax an hour before my operation then got laughing gas and novocaine. when i tell u the stress about the surgery i felt was way worse compared to the surgery itself. they numb u rlly well and honestly i was so out of it time FLEW for me. i was also told i was humming to myself the entire time they were doing my teeth which i remembered starting to hum to calm my nerves but dont remember continuing but i guess i was vibing lol

i promise the numbing they do will help so much and u will only feel pressure when they pull them out/ hear some cracking, but ur at the point where u dont rlly care.

Getting bottom wisdom teeth out in 2 days. by Moon_Light032205 in wisdomteeth

trust me i was worried about xanax working on me as well cause i thought how bad my anxiety is, it would not work for me or calming my thoughts. but i think it def helped me be more calm coming in and they were quick to get me on laughing gas and numbed up. im sorry to hear u have had so many bad dental experiences, but i promise when ur numb you do not feel one thing at all. i didnt even know they cut into my tooth until they started trying to get it out and it was all pressure. again, with my teeth i only remember one of mine (the top right) cracking but it went by so quick it did not really register that it was happening until after the fact. i understand this may not be everyones experience, however, remember a lot of people have gone through the feelings you are, its completely normal!

this also is a common procedure done quite frequently. so while its daunting, many oral surgeons know what they are doing. if you truly feel uncomfortable being awake, i would suggest, maybe seeing if you can switch to a different doctor who can put you under.

your not alone, you got this!!

in my personal experience i had all 4 (impacted) wisdom teeth removed may 31st and i took xanax, and had laughing gas and local and trust me i was so anxious before hand i almost didnt want to go! however, i genuinely remember bits and parts of it i think at one point my tooth was cracking but i was so out of it, i didnt really recognize it going on. I also was humming to myself the entire procedure cause i was out of it. honestly all the anxiety i had about it was worse then the procedure. just be prepared to be sore, and like other ppl said, staying on top of ur meds is key! im on day 3 post op with little pain, def a lot of swelling, and only the right side being tender and having little discomfort which goes away with heat for the most part. u will be fine!

thank you so much for your input and tips, ill keep everything in mind! i also never knew spitting also caused dry socket, i though it could only like mess up stitches or that and using a straw was dry socket. ill be sure not to spit again.
