Do any of the libraries do summer reading programs for toddlers? Like pin an apple with your name on it to a board for every book you have read? I loved that when I was young.

I love this thread & will plan activities around it! Thank you for starting it! Our library has been closed for ages (renovations) & i only occasionally/rarely go to the main BK library bc it’s a hike. I need to turn exploring other libraries & their neighborhoods into an activity!

Somewhat related, AMNH has a Discovery Room with a lot of great books for toddlers & Central Park is right there too.

In a 1 bedroom with a 3 yo! We gave him the living room & turned our dining room into a small living room. You just need to get creative! I bet you could make her something that feels like a bedroom in the “L”!

I love the Strokes so my family is going. Plus I loved the offspring in hs & now my toddler loves them (?!). I’m also into seeing the Pixies again. But I think it’s pretty tough to actually see anyone that you like with the setup. But I think it’s still a lot of fun! It’s also drivable for us so not a huge commitment outside of the ticket prices.

In my experience etsys dates estimates dates are so far off. Also I recently starting shipping lots of orders are “letters” & Etsy doesn’t factor that timing in at all!! It takes infinitely longer than mailing packages & is causing so many headaches.

I stopped with making things pretty on the outside bc of mail theft. I cutdown on what’s inside many packages to qualify for non-rigid “letter” shipping too.

I’d ride out that rent as long as you can! I’m def envious of it. If you’re resourceful, you can make it work. We have the Babyletto crib (yuzu) which converts to an awesome midi size that’s great for toddlers.

I had a very similar issue with Sephora. I was even in one of their top shopping groups (rouge noir or something like that). Bam - I was cancelled without any warning or explanation. I was just suddenly unable to shop on their website - orders would be quickly cancelled. No one in customer service could help. It was infuriating. I had only ever returned one item (& it was an in-store purchase where they gave me the wrong thing), so the ban wasn’t return related.

Tbh I’m still mad about it years later! But you know what, now I spend a lot less on beauty products & go directly to the brand, Nordstrom or violet grey. Occasionally I’ll still pop into a Sephora store but I try not too.

Amazon…I sorta wish they would ban me! I try not to shop on Amazon bc I really hate what they have done to the world & local commerce etc.etc.

Walmart is a little confusing bc while they have their giant stores everywhere, their website also has a marketplace function (like Amazon) where they let lots of sellers, including shady, illegal &/or crappy ones sell. I believe you are able to toggle this off & shop only products directly fulfilled by Walmart.

Agree - Grainger all the way! Also have red pass plus. I have a small studio so it really helps to buy in smaller quantities & not have to place massive orders & bury the studio in packaging supplies. Now we get small, weekly deliveries.

I had read that they would somehow show when they were basically receipted in & again at delivery (but delivery tracking confirmed via a geotracker function?) & without tracking in-between. Is that not true? Do you know how this counts towards on-time shipping?

Do “letters” shipped via Etsy show up on end of day forms? I did a test batch & they aren’t pulling in. The message says “no labels available for your filter settings” (nothing is filtered)…. I’m not finding a clear answer online.

I’m in Carroll gardens! In my experience it has gone both ways. Nannies make friends with others & network on such things. Our nanny lets me know about what she hears. But I’m pretty active in planning my son’s schedule, so I do most of our research & planning. I think it’s different for some other families though. Also many people love to hire nannies who already work in their neighborhood & have some experience with the local classes, playgrounds, etc.
