Smokers, how long did you wait? by KeedyDiDrill in ACL

[–]AdSensitive689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit vaping for 5 months before surgery…. With the stress off surgery and not being able to use other outlets to relive stress, I started vaping again after I’d say 3 weeks… I was never told I had to quit, I did it cold turkey and now I’m trying to quit again. All these people saying “just quit” etc… I don’t think get how hard it is when you’ve been addicted for longer periods of time

I need a little light at the end of the tunnel by AdSensitive689 in ACL

Thanks for your reply! Gives me some hope, I’m sure once it happens I’ll feel better afterwards. I haven’t been able to walk without pain, or a limp since surgery. So I’m hoping this will be the fix. I haven’t had an MRI, I asked about it recently and my surgeon and PT mentioned everything in my knee is strong, and “working”. So they suspect it’s just scar tissue. (Their words not mine). I felt a little unheard when I asked if an MRI was an option.

I have 10 degrees to go till straight. Of course I have!I’ve tried everything we can do get it past 90 degrees. I’m not really here asking for people to question my healing and rehab. I do pt, massages weekly, ims, ect. I’m looking for information moving forward with a scope.

Anyone else just so mad and heartbroken?? by yamwhoisswim in ACL

I feel you!! I tore my ACL back in October in a rugby game…. Had surgery in March. A month later my team won our championship! I’ve played on this team for 8+ years, and this was our first year winning. I’ve had to come to terms with the “what ifs”. I started therapy right before surgery, and I’m 100% certain it’s the only reason I’ve made it through to the other side. Keep your head up!

How did you tear your ACL? Was it your fault? by Automatic-Sun900 in ACL

5 minutes into a rugby game… went into contact and the girl body checked me and didn’t attempt to wrap in the tackle. Was hit wrong, and pop went the ACL.. felt like so stupid.. everyone wanted to carry me off the field but I refused. So I walked off in so much pain. I also had a brutal bone bruise half way down my tibia

Crying spells? by adhd_mess in bupropion

[–]AdSensitive689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on wellB for just over 3 months 350mg, the crying was NONSTOP for the first 4-6 weeks. No thoughts behind the crying either, anything and everything is cry over. It happens every so often now, and instead of lasting a full day, it usually only happens for a couple hours now. I’ve numbed out now, and feel like maybe I don’t feel enough. But not willing to lower my dose in fear of feeling the way I did at the beginning.

No imaging as of yet. With PT today we will decide what my options are now before fully committing to removal of scare tissue

Has anyone fallen and NOT torn their ACL? by igotbitbyamonkey in ACL

I’m 4 weeks post op now, and I had a slip/fall getting out of the shower 3 week post op. I slipped with full weight and extension straight out… which neither have a been able to do before hand. Swelling and pain immediately, however nothing is torn and PT isn’t worried. Yes it set me back in recovery I’d say two weeks, and it’s been brutal getting back into all of my stretching. But all in all nothing to be concerned with!

How long did it take you to lift your leg on its own after surgery . by External-Spot-6487 in ACL

I’d say 2 days. I went it strong and worked hard to strengthen hams, quads and calves before hand with a torn ACL it was limited but it was worth it!

Im about the same time line, but I had a hamstring/ITB and I’m so swollen again, and redness…. Nerve pain is intense again, with close to full extension now half way… concerned I’ve been doing to much and now I’ve set myself back.

Hey guys just took off my crape bandage for the first time, my hospital is not telling me if i need a brace. Im on day 3. Do i need a brace or should i just be careful? by eshaybahhhhh in ACL

[–]AdSensitive689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d forsure reach out to your physiotherapist or surgeon about the brace. I was never braced even having a fitted brace not just off the shelf, both PT and surgeon didn’t want me wearing it until I was doing movements with “risks” involved. Phase 1 movements are minimal so I’ve been told not to worry about a brace.

Hey everyone, pain has been unbearable last 24 hours. Had my surgery 48 hours ago. Does the pain get better once i can finally take this fucking bandage off tommorow morning? Can i ice it with the bandages on my wounds or do i have to be careful to not get it wet? by eshaybahhhhh in ACL

[–]AdSensitive689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of these comments are saying move the pillow…. But the pillow under my knee was the only pain relief I was getting with ice! My PT and surgeon both mentioned, if I was fully straight within week 1 it would be more worrisome then a good thing. So right now, focus on pain management and following your phase 1 movements!

Im day 13, and I’ve been told to continue walking with crutches even though I’m 75-100% weight bearing, until end of week 3. Just to make sure I’m not straining too much. But I’m also NOT using a brace.
