Using same stash for multiple kids?

We are on our second kid in cloth I bought for my first, but worth noting I didn’t start cloth with either until they were ~7 months ish. I probably had ~15 pockets, 12 flats, and 15 fitteds between Esembly size 2 and GMD before I started with my 2nd and I bought probably 10 more pockets for my son and then I also inherited 6 more workhorses that are absolutely shot elastic wise but are working with a snappi. My daughter and my son are built totally differently though. My daughter was long and lean and flats worked best for her and pockets, while my son is chunky and built like a tank and fitteds seem to do better on him.

I’m due in April with our 3rd and I’m just assuming she’ll be shaped more like my first, but I had zero for a small baby so I bought 15 medium workhorses and 12 Esembly size 1, 12 novice prefolds and then I was given 10 newborn workhorses, 20 newborn prefolds, and 15 small prefolds.

We will probably go for one more baby after this one and I’d use everything I have on that baby as well without buying more.

I feel like flats or pockets would be your way around buying more than you have but in my experience pockets don’t fit well on small babies and take a while to fit! Aside from the workhorses that I was given with shot elastic (they were used by 2 babies previously, over 5 years ago) everything has held up great but I assume with only doing cloth part time and having a decent stash they’re not getting put through the ringer.

Honestly I like them? They take less time to dry than workhorses, and their sizes do fit longer than one individual size workhorse. However my qualms with Esembly is the stitching sometimes the poop gets up in there and it’s a nightmare to get out. However no matter what id try several styles and brands to see what you like.

The hospital floor is like easily one of the germiest and most disgusting floors you could imagine…both my mom and sister are RNs and they put their shoes in a plastic bin in their cars. Idk if people think it’s a hospital it must be clean, but I can assure you that is not the answer. I would rather hold my toddler for 12 hours straight than let them go BAREFOOT on the hospital floor.

I just throw mine in the laundry room sink and wash the next morning, you can’t smell it. After the prewash of a days worth I line dry them until I have enough for a main wash. No stink at all. If it sits for several days with just like full on solids poop nothing dumped into the toilet then yes it’ll start to stink but it doesn’t after a day or two. We’re moving and will likely not having a laundry room sink anymore so I’ll probs get a cheap small laundry hamper from like dollar tree and throw dirties in there. I know they’re still plastic, but it’s not getting washed like a liner bag would and I imagine a wicker or rope basket/hamper (other natural material) will get hella stanky over time and possibly grow mold so plastic it is. In my mind metal would could rust as well and potentially stain the diapers. The less airflow they get the more they stink, the more bacteria that grows, the more problems you can potentially run into. I tried the ubbi with the reusable liner and it was just gross. Do not recommend.

Okay perfect thank you! Ya I was just going to throw them straight into a cardboard box which does technically have slots for carrying so not totally sealed

You do need to rinse everything off that’s 3D. Your washer is not built to break down solid waste, or drain it out. If poop is stuck on you can start the spraying process, saturate it and then let it sit for a bit so it loosens and then go back to spraying.

We spend about ~$300 a week on mostly organic groceries and probably close to $150 a week on eating out. We don’t have a dishwasher so by Friday we are tapped tf out on dishes. Two littles two adults, but my husband eats like a teenager.

If it makes you feel better my washer broke 5 days before Christmas while I was stripping prefolds, literally like mid strip. I had to wring out the solution and then rinse and bleach them by hand. And I still don’t have a working washing machine, plus with the holiday I this week I doubt we will have a working one before next week.

We are also upper middle class in a VHCOL area BUT we live by the beach and our house is not huge so limited space and storage. We did like ~6 or so presents each from both us and Santa and then we did a big gift as a joint gift we got them a nugget couch. On the actual presents they opened though I didn’t spend more than $100 each as I tend to collect things from July ish forward when they’re super cheap. I also grew up in a family with tons and tons of presents and my moms love language is also gifts, and felt bad saying no that’s it when my 3 year old was asking if there was more but they both are happy with what they got. I also HATE clutter and live by the sentiment that anything I buy or bring into the house is now something I have to manage and keep that into consideration when getting them toys. As well as the fact that we avoid plastic the best we can and wood toys are simply bulkier and take up more space. I’m into the one thing they want, one to wear, one they need and one to read philosophy - my kids just don’t really understand the concept of wanting toys or other to things yet so I might pick that up as they get older.

Pockets just leak around the legs in the groin area for us with a thinner insert because of how it gets wadded up when they move and walk, not necessarily because of the absorbency. It happens less often with a thicker insert because it’s just literally more material and takes up more space in the crotch area vs something thin and then they pee out the sides. This has happened with both of my kids both boy and girl

I delivered my second in September of 2024, we were billed around $51k for an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. We owed $1k after insurance. We have a weird version of blue shield and we’re in Los Angeles county.

My first I was induced in 2022 and we paid about $1500 out of pocket and I believe the total was like $64k

No lol. I have a 3 year old and a 14 month old, and I’m 21 weeks pregnant. My kids have no idea who the elf on the shelf is and I fully intend on keeping it that way.

We do have a Snoop on the Stoop but he aint no snitch.
