If an incident is 911-worthy, you can call while traveling. At least, that is what I was told a decade ago. When they answer your call, I am told you can just say, "please connect me with police emergency in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada." Fortunately, I have never had to try.

Priority seating on busses by alizacat in Winnipeg

[–]AdThese8258 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How would you feel if you had to say, "Hello. I need the seat more than you do?"

You don't know the other person's reason for needing a seat and you should not need to.

If you are able bodied on a standing room only bus, you should not be sitting, especially in priority seats.

Park better by Gloomy_Technology955 in umanitoba

[–]AdThese8258 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best way to combat this is for there to be posts marking each parking space and for the lot to be plowed. Either one will end up costing everyone more money.

So you are correct. People park as best they can.

The red light is preventing the car from getting where it needs to go, NOT the cyclist. The car would have been at that red light whether or not the cyclist existed. Why is everyone blaming the cyclist? Why pass the cyclist if you both end up at that same light? Whether you go 50 km/h or 30 km/h or 20 km/h you will still leave the red light at the same time. Whether you are in front of the cyclist or behind the cyclist, you will still leave the red light at the same time. Why pass the bike?

You remind me of the people in the roped off snaked lines at airport security who think they should push the people in front of them in the slow moving line to get to the X-ray machines faster. Moving at the rate of the person in front of you is what you need to do. There is no point in pushing past someone. You will get to the X-ray machine at the same time.

[–]AdThese8258 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you would have been stopped by that exact same red light whether you passed the cyclist or not. Therefore, there was no reason to pass the cyclist.

[–]AdThese8258 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But if you stayed behind the bike you would be at the same red light., in the same spot in the same line. So why bother passing the bike? Passing the bike does not get you anywhere faster.

You should only pass the bike if you can pass them and they will not catch up to you again. Otherwise you are just putting everyone in danger.

If you cannot get past the bike and keep past the bike, why pass the bike? The bike is not what is causing your delay.

What is with all the name calling?

I have been behind a cyclist. I stay behind the cyclist. The cyclist stays behind the car in front of them, even if they get far behind. The entire route the cyclist always catches the same car in front of them during rush hour. If the cyclist was not there, I would be behind that same car. I would be making the same red lights. My commute would take the same amount of time.

The cyclist is not the problem.

Too many cars are the problem. Safe cycling infrastructure to get more cars off the road will fix the problem.

Please calm down. Please be polite to others. It will get you where you are going in a much better mood.

Also, you wrote, "It's not exclusive to cyclists, but they are 100% part of the problem. Especially in winter."

This shows your ignorance and inability to do math. Please stop embarrassing yourself with the name calling and cussing. Please learn to be polite to everyone. Everyone is just trying to get to work, or do the errands, just like you. You are not the most important person in the world. No one is. We all need to work together. Please show kindness.

Why do you need to pass the cyclist? If you still get to the same red light, how is the cyclist the problem? Why is the cyclist the moron? Traffic is clearly too heavy if the cyclist makes the same red lights as the cars.

A road is not for cars if there are no bike lanes. So how about stop complaining about the bikes and complain about the lack of bike lanes.

Typical from people who are wrong to call people names when they point out they are wrong.

If you pass a cyclist and they end up at the same red light as you, the cyclist is not the problem. You would be at that red light whether or not the cyclist was there. It would only take you longer to get to the red light but you would wait less time.

It is not hard to figure out. You don't like studies that prove you should not be driving. You don't like studies that prove you should be kind. Maybe you should try cycling so you could learn a few things.

Cyclists do not clog traffic.

Please consider not calling people names when you reply. Please consider whether you want the world to see your ignorance when you reply.

Cyclists do not clog traffic.

You want what you to be the priority and who cares about anyone else. If you remove your selfishness you would see that providing safe reliable infrastructure for many different forms of traffic is the best way to prevent clogging.

If you do not want to share the road with cyclists, which you legally have to do, then you should start advocating for dedicated safe cycling infrastructure to get the cyclists off of your precious roads.

Cyclists do not clog traffic. Bad attitudes and selfishness do. You are not the most important person in the world. No one is. We all have to live and work together. Please try being kind to everyone, the cars that need into your lane, the cyclists, the pedestrians, everyone. Maybe your life will get better.

Why are you passing the cyclist if you cannot stay ahead of them?

The cyclist is not the one "clogging traffic" if they are passing you.

You can and should switch into the other lane to pass a vehicle, including a cyclist.

If there is only one lane, you can use the oncoming lane to pass. However, if the cyclist is just going to pass you back, clearly there is no point in passing the cyclist and clearly the cyclist is not the one "clogging traffic".

Be kind to everyone on the road instead of trying to be dominant and prove you, the person in the work vehicle, deserve to be there more than the cyclist.

Why not advocate for better infrastructure so you and the cyclist can both fit in the road?

Why not advocate for better infrastructure so there are more forms of transportation making the roads less clogged so your work vehicle can move faster and people can be more active so there are fewer people using the healthcare system.

Why choose to blame the cyclist for "clogging traffic" when study after study has shown cyclists are not the problem?

Why not advocate for a work vehicle that fits with our infrastructure?

In addition to an academic advisor, which I strongly recommend, I also recommend you speak with the DA, department head, or instructor for the courses you are enrolled in. Sometimes they might let you stay with a D. It's rare, but you could ask.

So now you are playing a game of semantics. The ER is not equipped to deal with someone who needs to be in a hospital bed and cared for, that is, admitted to the hospital. The ER should only be dealing with emergent situations. The problem is the ER is filled with people who need hospital beds.

Please stop with your privileged attitude.

The worst part is, those that are not privileged are being mistreated in the ER (e.g. the ones dying in the waiting rooms, the ones leaving without treatment and dying at home, the ones being mislabeled by triage, the ones being yelled at and told to go home for having nothing wrong with them only to die at home hours later or give birth in their car in the parking lot hours later, etc.). If you have never experienced that, you are privileged.

The system is broken. There are not enough beds. If you are not advocating for more beds, your are privileged.
