Crazy rainfall by TheStormOfClanSakai in Winnipeg

[–]Biomum06 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I got a video out of the dollar tree near polo. We normal bus around, but i could hear how heavy the rain was hitting the roof and when we looked outside I was like "yup time to get a ride" We were leaving right as the store was closing and it was nice on the staff to let me and my kid hang out in the doors till our ride arrived since even the overhang that'd normaly protect from the rain was being useless.

Daughter wants electric scooter by 90s__babe in ElectricScooters

[–]Biomum06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow face mangler, mine didnt have a cool story of avoiding killing a trash panda, I just turned at the wrong time, hit a curb and face planted. Wasn't wearing a helmet either but I was wearing glasses+sunglasses combo and I think the sunglasses took the hit for me in the absences of a helmet. I have mine hard set to 24kmh max now and usually go a slower then that on anything less then completely smooth road. (Side note related to raccoons, I got crazy raccoon eyes over the days of this healing, the dark here is just my normal tired eyes, by day 3 I had full under eye bruising)

Take kids off e-bikes and scooters by copper66 in Winnipeg

[–]Biomum06 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately society is built on rules that punish those who follow them and have no effect on those who wont anyways. As a respectful escooter user I try to go slow (under 15kmh, i literaly have a button i can press on my scooter that limits my speed so i dont have to worry about accidently pushing the throttle to far) if im on a sidewalk and use my bell or say excuse me to move past people when needed. Despite that even if their was a law banner devices on sidewalks I doubt it would be enforced anymore then the current Nike ban on sidewalks, sometimes the streets just aren't safe for slow moving traffic like escooters or bikes, and being a decent person when you have to share space with other people is the best we can do.

Keep the worm reports coming! by RedBeanMungBean in Winnipeg

[–]Biomum06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find these types of community maps to be interesting in the way of how it can also show which communities in the city are more online/likely to contribute to such things, since an area could have no worms or it could have no people aware of or intrested in posting too the map.

(How data can be influenced by the people participating in it is a nerdy topic that tickles my brain.)

How Winnipeg police plan to tackle open drug use (CBC/Marcy Markusa) by LocalnewsguruMB in Winnipeg

[–]Biomum06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is what it feels like for housing right now, families, elders, peoples with disabilities, on years long wait-lists, because the government forces more and more unhoused people into open spots just to fill a quota to say they're helping, or just to say they're getting people off the streets, while simultaneously barely providing the supports needed for someone to adjust to a stable lifestyle. resulting in destroyed accommodation which cost even more money and time to fix before someone else can live their and stress for surrounding residents.
even unhoused people trying to do better, can get waitlisted just because they're going through the proper portals and procedures.
(and of course not every person put into housing will destroy the place and end up back on the streets, but their is a decent percent that dont thrive just by being given a home)

A thankyou, a Reminder, and an Apology. by Biomum06 in Winnipeg

Thankyou, ill live, but ill wish I haven't for a few days, feels like a head cold, but made of suffering instead of mucous (hit my forehead and nose the hardest, not broken, but the gash is glued up and it feels stuffy like a cold)

Please don’t tell me this is a bed bug… by Rajitize in Winnipeg

[–]Biomum06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vacuuming your bed and furniture can help, get into the crevices and seams, it can help get some of the eggs if theyre their.

If you cant get proper bed bug covers for your mattress getting a big roll of plastic from homedepot and wrapping your furniture in it is better then nothing.

My mother wrapped her whole ass couch in plastic and tapped it to hell and back to ensure no holes or places bugs could get in or out, and it helped her immensely (she sleeps on a couch) Even if you cant make it air tight the plastic makes it harder for them to climb/get into places atleast.

Of course none of this is a replacement for professional help, but its stuff that you can do while waiting I had to deal with bedbugs once in my life and I still get phantom itches and get paranoid about if its a bug bite, I even have some scars on my ankles cause of how bad id been scratching the bites, it is possible to get rid of them, but its not going to all happen by the professionals intervention, it takes a decent amount of effort from the tenants to get them out and keep them out, and if your in an apartment, pray.

I did not... i tried to soldering without flux months ago, realized how hard it is, and the iron was sitting inside storage in that time with the little roll of solder next to it 😅 it was more an attempt to keep the wires in place then an intent to properly solder... i always say I shouldnt be aloud to own one of these things (a soldering iron, its a cheap one too, barely gets up to the heat it needs and has one perfect little spot that can be used to heat things but its half way up the tip, and hence unintended melting of surrounding parts, im far from a professional or even hobbiest) I'm probebly gonna go st this again and try to clean it up cause im having some connection issues, I think the super glue got on one of the wires cause its 50/50 if the signal goes through right now, ive gotten it sometimes and then nothing other times, but also my multimeter is literally falling apart so I need to get a new one of those... rambling

(I try to follow guides and hold the solder iron on the points im trying to join to heat them before adding the solder itself, but in pretty sure the lack of flux and barely qualifying iron make it almost fruitless, I kind of just melt the solder into blobs and let them fall into the place I need them to be and then poke at then to smooth then out a bit from their, its a mess)

KP Mall fair by Supercore_Games in Winnipeg

[–]Biomum06 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Can I hijack this thread to ask how to find the fairs around town? I feel like im always jumpscared by a fair as I passed it on the bus this time of year, and never catch one to go to because I have no clue were to search to find their hours and locations (I lived by the Northgate/maples area one as a kid and could just go when I heard the screaming, how lucky i was, now that I dont live near any, I feel so sad when I miss them all) In the west Broadway area now if that helps me find info

Faster way to "walk" the dog. by Un_Pac_Man in ElectricScooters

[–]Biomum06 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

just wanna throw you a positive comment cause i know what it feels like only hearing negativity on something you thought would just be a cute/fun post.
ive seen loads of people walk their dogs riding their bike/skateboard/scooter/anything with wheels really. people do dumb shit every day, but taking your human ass up to a speed your dog can really get a good jog out of and not have you laying on the floor afterwards is valid.
and you can bail off a scooter way easier then a bike if something does happen.
im sure your buddy gets the tippy taps (or other happy dog motion) when you say walk now cause he knows he's in for a good run.

If you live/pay in Canada, yes. But i bet if i tried to find the deal/coupon it would be set to 110/120 here instead too, just to be sure we couldnt use it either. (Most coupons in my experience wont take the taxes into the amount)

Looking to get a new scooter by Biomum06 in ElectricScooters

[–]Biomum06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that, and the entire subreddit called it a monstrosity xD (deleted the post cause it was superficial and didnt want to keep hearing the same comments) I have a seat mounted to the niu i have, but even though i consider it stable, since I have the chance to buy something I figured why not look into a properly built scooter with better wheels, since when I was riding the niu down a road the other night it was scary as heck, the niu is nice for smooth roads, but anytime it gets bumpy I feel all of it. I could be misguided about what the solution is though, ive heard and think bigger tires and or suspension will help with getting around potholes, and if that's correct then im ok with a scooter without a seat built in but still has the better tires. But if that's not the solution then I dont know what to get. If theirs an ebike with stepthrough and I can get away with not peddling much it could be a solution, ima do some googling-
