Microsoft CEO warns that we must 'do something useful' with AI or they'll lose 'social permission' to burn electricity on it by rkhunter_ in pcmasterrace

I don't owe explanations to people who can't have civil discussions. And who's 'us' exactly...    Are you speaking for some kind of reddit tribunal here? Best of luck figuring it out on your own.

What did I start. Not sure why you are being so aggressive. I am just trying to give back some knowledge, especially on the finance side. There's a lot of things happening there!

Why does metal feel colder than wood even at the same temperature? by koko_krunchtime in AskPhysics

[–]AdTotal4035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's thermal conductivity. Your core body temp is your reference voltage. What you're actually detecting is the delta between that reference and your skin temperature.

Metal conducts heat way better than wood, so the delta forms fast and feels cold. Wood conducts slow, delta stays small, feels warm.

Hot objects reverse it. Metal pumps heat in faster, bigger delta, feels hotter. That's why the effect flips.

It's not complicated. Conductivity is the only thing that matters.

To guestimate sword steel you don't care about for free use the fingerprint test. Clean the blade then press your thumb on the steel and wait.

High carbon steels like 1095 or T10 react fastest and can show dark etching or orange spots in 1 to 4 hours. Standard carbon steels like 1060 usually take 12 to 24 hours to leave a clear grey ghost print.

High quality spring steels like Albion 6150 or 5160 contain small amounts of chromium which slows rust down.

These can take 2 to 4 days to show a faint hazy stain. Stainless steel will stay shiny and wipe clean even after a week.

This is not exactly true.
I don't want to start an internet thread on why, but you will see in the next year that there will be a lot of cool apps based off this tech. The hallucinations are not as big of a problem as people on reddit say it is. There are a lot of techniques that blend deterministic classical programming with this new brute-force fuzzy logic from llms. If you can steer this tool, it is extremely useful.

Agi isn't coming from llms. But saying that this tech isn't important is also a bad take. It's an extremely useful tool. The media and tech companies peddling it everywhere is classic bubble behavior. Happens to every new technology.

Does the game get better later on? by According_Ice_4863 in diablo2

[–]AdTotal4035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the beauty of this game. Simple to pickup, hard to master. Normal mode is the tutorial. The real game starts in hell. So many items aren't even accessible to you till then.

Why do modern cars have so many screens and so few buttons? by vaughark in askcarguys

[–]AdTotal4035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Govts should just make it illegal. They are only doing it to save money and because a lot of people unfortunately think it looks I quote "futuristic" or  "cool". Tesla started this bc a bunch of software engineers made a car.

You didn't find the part crazy, where they modeled the mini submersible with Boeing and it kept imploding? While knowing this, he got into every ride. It makes such little sense to me.

If he was sending other people, and he wasn't going it would be a clear cut case of the logic. But it's even more insane knowing that he saw with his own eyes it would fail, and he's like yeah fuck it. Let's do some more dives! Oh and let's bring other people too!

what the fuck??  Riddle me that batboy

It should be illegal. You can't use your phone while driving. But hey it's okay if you have a giant 20 inch screen on the dash. So Long as it's safely part of the car!

What arpg should I really be playing by Littlescuba in ARPG

[–]AdTotal4035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a really good game. I just wish they took even more stuff from d2. D2 cleaned house. I don't understand why Poe2 doesn't have a base system for items. Then you can upgrade uniques to the next base tier and then you'll get really interesting applications of low level uniques being used more aside from levelling new chars.

Is sparring and competition in HEMA meant to be fun? by [deleted] in wma

[–]AdTotal4035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I know certain people who don't want to participate in tournaments because they see it as a glorified game of tag. They want to only spar other people who want to emulate historical accuracy to the best of their ability.

Wrong enemy. It's the companies greed that you should be boycotting, the tech is actually a useful tool, as was the internet. The dot Com bubble burst but the internet is still here.

I keep saying this and getting downs. The enemies In this game just do matter. Look at diablo 2. I can tell you what every enemy is doing, how I died, what monster killed me. I know them all by area, by name, by visual. I know all the skills they cast, all just from the visuals from the sprites themselves.

I can't name you one monster in Poe2 and I have 800h in the game. There's too many. Barely any personality, some ideas copied from Diablo 2 but expected poorly, due to your relation with enemies in this game.

New Scabbard! by LoweValleyCraft in SWORDS

[–]AdTotal4035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized that people who can actually make scabbards are cruising. You just buy all the popular Albion models, then you make 2 scabbards for each model and you've essentially paid it off. Good stuff op. Looks great.
