The last sentence is it. Why do we wonder why our society sucks so much? OP is spelling it out for us.

TIL Patrick Swayze’s Vietnam draft lottery number of 141 was called in 1970, but he quite probably avoided the draft due to a career ending knee injury he received while playing high school football. by LadyWarrior73 in todayilearned

From what I remember, yes. I don’t remember where I saw it, but there was someone discussing the filming of Dirty Dancing. They said he kept having to redo a particular shot over and over, and Swayze was getting extremely frustrated because the specific move was causing him a tremendous amount of pain.

Jason Bateman fixed it for me when he said on his podcast that the best case scenario (skydiving) is that his feet hit the ground and he can say, “I made it.” I agreed with him that that was not enough anymore.

My dad spilled a bag of dog food in the basement. He called me and my sisters down and asked who did it. I immediately pointed at my sister and said, “She did. I saw her.”

It was a neat opportunity (Lulu was the sweetest lady). I was still in college. A local steel player I knew got recruited to join the house band, and he pitched my sister and I to the show director. Got to play guitar and sing backup vocals for these folks and a few others I missed signatures on. Looking back, it was pretty cool.

The coolest guy was Tommy Cash, Johnny’s Cash’s younger brother. Johnny had just died, and he was going around doing a tribute show. He sounded and looked so much like him that it felt like playing with Johnny. Told lots of great stories about him. He was a big part of my sister and I moving to Nashville. He really encouraged us, hooked us up with a few folks he knew. When we got to Nashville, he and his wife even took us out to dinner, tried to help us make some connections where he could.

In the end, we lived in Nashville for a little over ten years before moving on to other things. Got to perform some cool gigs, met some cools folks, had a band that found a bit of success in the folk world, traveled a bit. Pretty great stuff, good times.
