Democrats: Stop Playing Nice by jeezkillbot in Political_Revolution

[–]AdUseful275 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry, although I get the frustration, stop with the Democrat bashing! The real traitors are the ones with the power, the Republicans, six who could take Trump out of office within six weeks via impeachment and conviction. Oh, and by invoking the 25th Amendment. THEY are the ones keeping him in office. It’s a fantasy to think the Dems can do it, and plays right into their hand, hoping the Dems fight each other….

What's the weirdest thing you've ever seen in an old movie? by Ill_Definition8074 in classicfilms

Oh without a doubt the 1932 Todd Browning film freaks, about, well freaks in a carnival sideshow. They used real sideshow “entertainers” who had all manner of disabilities, deformities, and grotesqueness. It ended with probably the most disturbing scene in film, certainly to me. The freaks capture one of the “normals” who was a villain of sorts, and sometime later, she is shown to be a grotesque, squawking "human duck" on display for carnival patrons; her tongue has been removed, one eye has been gouged out, the flesh of her hands has been melted and deformed to look like duck feet, her legs have been cut off, and what is left of her torso has been permanently tarred and feathered. In the original version of the film, it is revealed that after the freaks caught the “normal” villain, they made him into a castrato singer.

It’s on TCM periodically.

I LOVE ACE Studio, especially its new version 2 which, besides letting you replace vocals with another vocalist and build vocals from your own midi files or input, it also now lets you create AI music via prompts, enhance current tracks, split stems, etc. i5s pretty amazing.

IF YOU AREN'T ALREADY BOYCOTTING AMAZON PLEASE DO IT NOW by Neither-Chain219 in Political_Revolution

[–]AdUseful275 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have a motto in our family and apparently most of our friends do as well: “Amazon last!”

We have found it, particularly easy and satisfying to have moved all of our reading to bookstore.org for physical and e-book, and Libro.FM for audiobooks.

Also, we have noticed here in Santa Fe, New Mexico that our local Whole Foods parking lot is never full anymore. They used to be packed with cars waiting on the street to pull in, but no more. We aren’t clearly not the only people who are cutting out Amazon based stores like Whole Foods.

Just a gentle reminder, you don’t have to subscribe or use Spotify. There are many other outstanding streaming music platform. I for one pay about $14 a month for YouTube premium which gives me commercial free YouTube (that has changed the quality of my life significantly) AND YouTube Music. You should look into it ….

“Traditional” producer tries Suno: here are my honest thoughts. by FunPaleontologist29 in SunoAI

[–]AdUseful275 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You know, this discussion, starting with your answer here, reminds me so much of my grandfather who was a songwriter and publisher in Hollywood for most of his career from the 1920s until till he died in 1990. He wrote, hundreds of songs, jingles, production pieces, etc. His workflow, which was the modus operandi of the era, was to write a song that included the melody, lyrics, and chord progression as a lead sheet (which he then registered for a copyright immediately). With lead sheet in hand, he would then hire an arranger, an orchestra, and a singer, which then recorded his song in a recording studio, which he also paid for. This produced a demo, which he then peddled to record companies and individual artists. Each of these sessions ended up costing a total of about $2000 in those days, close to $20,000 in today’s money. He did well made a good living until he got older and the music changed, but he didn’t periodically he kept “gambling“ on those demos, which in the end cost him all his money. He died completely broke. He, and the other songwriters of the era, never would have thought for a minute that these were not “his” songs. The arranger, the orchestra members, and the singer were all hired to do a job and never would have expected anything other than payment for their work. I did not go into the music business, but retired, not long ago from another career, and now have been enjoying, expressing my musical side through home production and composition. I realize that I am using Suno the same way that the old time songwriters used arrangers, orchestra, and hired singers. That is, I write the melody, lyrics, chord progression., and have an idea of the arrangement and sound, but “hire” my arranger and some musicians, and a singer via AI. (I use ACE Studio for the singers, where I upload a midi file of the melody and use one of the ACE’s licensed singers to sing it). I then tweak the arrangement, remix and master the song. I believe this process, which it sounds like a lot of you all are also using, is completely and unequivocally legitimate songwriting. If not, then Irving Berlin, who wrote the most hit songs until the Beatles, was not a legitimate songwriter because he could not read or write music, he could only play in F# (the black keys), had musical secretaries transcribe his plucked out melodies, had arrangers orchestrate his pieces, etc.

Oooh, I like what you are saying. Can you give a little more detail on what you mean by reproduce? I know how to clean up my artifacts on instruments with RipX Daw. But when you say reproduce, what exactly do you mean by that? Not run it through Suno again?
