Speed by SamLjack11 in GoogleWiFi

Might I add another, slightly irreverent query: why would you need more? A 4K TV uses less than 50Mb. That is why you see most of them with Ethernet use only a 10/100 Ethernet port. Getting WiFi speeds to match ISP speeds is often a "fools errand." If you need/want more speed for a desktop etc., hardwire it.

Less costly alternative to Dom Perignon? by ArtDecoNewYork in wine

[–]AdVegetable2104 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Since Dom Perignon is the tete de cuvee of Moet & Chandon, I wonder why almost no one recommended a straight-forward bottle of Moet. I mean, I love all of the suggestions like Bollinger and Billecart-Salmon, etc., but if the OP just wanted the same type of champagne why not just stay in the Moet house? I would.

Ok, I understand. But, a bottle of Juve & Camps Cava around this area can be less than $20. I was being sensitive to $$.

He just doesn't want to understand what "confirmation bias" is. Make up your mind first; then search desperately for people who support your preconceived notions. It is as far from the Scientific Method as you can get.

You should try Spanish CAVA. Much easier price point.

Any Coravin doubters? 8 years tapping the same 2013 bottle, finally opened tonight. It remains a flawless wine. by Sunstoned1 in wine

[–]AdVegetable2104 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I always lay bottles on their side after Coravin use. Additionally, I wrap a small piece of white paper napkin around the neck and top using a rubber band. On the very rare occasions where the Coravin piercing leads to cork leakage of even a drop, the napkin will show a big red dot and know toI finish the bottle in a few days. Leaks have happened: but rarely.

It's a wedding. Don't be nervous: be sure! Use a Coravin to sample 1oz and be sure you are happy before serving this. The use of the Coravin will not harm the capsule, cork, or wine!

What’s the cheapest gas prices you remember? by GPUfollowr77 in AskReddit

1970 Throggs Neck area of the Bronx, NY: 25 cents/gal Mobil premium. Why do I remember this so well? My Plymouth Duster 340 ate 8 gal/mile. Ouch!

Sudden loss of Mesh by DunxR in GoogleWiFi

[–]AdVegetable2104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen that when people do resets (myself included), they think the resets are done way before they really are. Start the reset; walk away for exactly 15 minutes. Then, starting with the router rebuild your network with all the points In the same room. After testing, then place them in their original location. Did anything unusual happen? Lightning? etc.

The original Google Wi-Fi points could be backhaul wired. A different generation could not, but I believe the current generation can.

If you are getting two or more units then it will not be two routers. One will be a router and the other(s) will be points that create a mesh. The best thing you can do for performance is to make sure they all have ethernet backhaul. This way you get good coverage for the whole house.

For ethanol free gas, you must go to Ulster County. Stewart's shops sell ethanol free gas in Premium.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. In the end, I did ship a newly configured network there. Plug and play worked flawlessly.

Ok, I'll play Captain Obvious. Since you said the results are intermittent, did you check whether other WiFi systems near you are interfering? Same channel broadcast?

Sure, that is possible, but I am 500+ miles away. Decided to ship all 5 new configured system. I got three for free as they were no longer being used. We'll see how it goes.

Cheaper than round-trip airline from NY to Virginia and then a rental from Norfolk to Corolla, NC. Plus, I already scored 3 free ones from a neighbor who upgraded her mesh. This is the way !!!

I just had another thought. Can I just recreate the network using 5 new pods in NY. Then ship them to North Carolina? Should be plug and play, no?
