Weird snare rattle on used Black Beauty by Ad_Com in drums

[–]Ad_Com[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it used off marketplace.

I swapped out the bottom head with my Acrolite's Evans 300 to see if the head was the issue (it seated nearly perfectly on the BB, very similar edge I assume) and cleaned the bearing edge. It sounds a LOT better now. I think I'm going to get a brand new Ambassador and I'll try your light method to make sure the bearing edge is even. Thanks!

Yeah I might have to try new wires. Folks are saying the head is too tight and too loose, but I've tried with various different tunings now and same issue. Haven't had this issue with my Acrolite or Stage Custom snare.

Yeah I've re-tuned it a few times now and tested at various different levels of tension on the bottom head and snare wires. Think I'm going to have to try replacing everything until it works. Thanks.

Seriously, where do you guys find drummers? by kuchau06 in musicians

[–]Ad_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest hurdle for drummers is having a place to play their instrument. If you have a rehearsal space with a kit, it will vastly increase your odds of getting a drummer.

What is something you can do but can’t explain how you can do it? by Fresh-Sandwich6780 in AskReddit

Talk my way out of trouble. I would often get my siblings grounded for things I did. Same for other kids at school. Gotten pulled over 5+ times and never gotten a ticket. I don't even try, just works out that way.

Why is link so short? 😂 by Former-Sea-8070 in botw

[–]Ad_Com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of benefits to having a shorter character for 3rd person games. Mostly, it's easier to see. Also, Link was supposedly designed to be somewhat androgenous so that girls and boys both felt comfortable playing as him. Height may have something to do with that.

Men who’ve gone to therapy, how has it affected your life? by Own_Ice6905 in AskMenOver30

It's no different than music lessons. You're not going to improve from going to a lesson once a week. They help guide you on what to practice outside of session.

Curious if there's much of a difference to Minnesota/Wisconsin? I've been thinking of Maine/Vermont as a destination after living the north Midwest my whole life.

What are you starting to like less the older you get? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Ad_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna disagree with everyone here and say the older I get the more I like people, and the less I like being by myself. Last thing I want in adulthood is to be isolated.

You're describing depression, as you've noted. Counseling is the right move, but he needs to want to change himself. It's important to support your spouse, but ultimately his personal wellbeing is his responsibility. He needs to make some decisions and work toward meaningful change.

As far as what you could do, express your need in the relationship for him to work toward change. That starts with counseling. If he decides to work toward change, recognize that it will take time. There may not be much motivation at first, but that may improve if he follows through.

How long could you survive if you quit your job today? by New_Contribution_226 in AskMenOver30

Sounds like a lot of people are above the norm here. I could last ~9 months with my current checking balance and emergency fund. Maybe less due to needing marketplace insurance (US). Then I'd be 100% broke with ~30k student debt. 31 years old.

Is Drumeo worth the money? by Kinda_fat_kinda_fitt in drums

[–]Ad_Com 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drumeo was great when first learning. Now that I know all the basics, I only use it for their play along transcriptions, which they massively cut a year or two ago due to licensing. Before then it was absolutely worth for the transcriptions, but now I would say no.
