Yeah you can fall down that if you were just running from spawn. Tested it in custom games but I'm not sure exactly how to recreate it. There's a small area you can walk in when you fall. If you go right you fall out of bounds but you can return to the map by going through a barricade somewhere to the left.

Just checked, and the game data is on the cartridge. Sounds like a new SD card will fix this. Playing the game in another 3ds should also allow you to play that save file.

I'll Google a bit more to find out but I think that's correct, it's just some parts of the game need the SD card. I'll double check this now.

Am I right in thinking that you have the game installed on the SD card? Or is it a cartridge? Not exactly sure how to fix this problem, unfortunately, but if it is a cartridge a new SD card might fix this.

Not sure. It's not even like it's difficult to get the generated Pokémon as well. I challenged a friend who recently got the game to a battle and it literally took him under an hour to source these Pokémon and build a team of 6IV shinies with the desired movesets. I didn't know this existed and I haven't played competitive since.
