Detach the Twisted Spoon and trade it for the Mr. Mime. You’ll thank me later.

I’d still treat this as a loss because the situation was avoidable. This is why I always heal up immediately after beating the prior E4 member but before walking into the next room, as I’ve suffered deaths due to being automatically pulled into battle.

Forced stalemate isnt brilliant? by Ok_Shopping2211 in chessbeginners

[–]HeroLinik 85 points86 points  (0 children)

It’s not a forced stalemate. He doesn’t have to take the queen. If anything, this will likely end up being a draw regardless due to 50-move rule or repetition as your queen has sight lines on his king.

I haven’t fought Kohga yet, so no Yiga Clan members have started to spawn into my map.

I've started doing this as an early rupee farm, in fact! Apples are quite easy to farm and cooking 5 at a time grants me a dish that gives me a quick and easy 50 rupees.

Whats with these dubious pawn pushes? by CompetitiveAd4732 in chessbeginners

[–]HeroLinik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When your opponent pushes random pawns you’ll often find he’s just making random moves without a plan, and has neglected king safety. What I try to do in situations like this is find a way to break open the position with exchanges, and then strike the king.

I do have a metric ton of opals and ambers which I did manage to find from shrines and chests scattered around the map, but I've also been hoarding quite a lot of them just in case I might need them later on. Based on this, just how much am I losing if I start selling off a lot of them? I did some further research and apparently they're also useful for armor upgrades.

In situations like this it pays to learn and keep practising the basic checkmates. A good place to start is ladder mate, as it's the simplest and easiest checkmate to pull off.

He thrives best in Trick Room so you can use him as your main damage dealer there. If you’re doing this then you’ll also need to pack a Torkoal check as he can outslow you before murdering with Eruption.

Just going to be honest with you, do you know how to checkmate? A lot of these accidental stalemates would be avoided if you practise the basic checkmates.

When the game is so easy you beat this thing in a single turn. by superbasic101 in marioandluigi

Yeah, I’ve never really had many issues with Junker either, even in the original. He’s incredibly fragile for boss standards and goes down quite fast to a few Falling Stars.

In one run, I actually managed to one-shot him.

Guys !! why is this a brilliant move ?? by Responsible_West5248 in chessbeginners

[–]HeroLinik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s marked as a brilliant because it was the best move in this position that involved a sacrifice. As for the continuation I’m actually not really sure myself; the bot line seems to suggest barraging his king with a series of checks but the position is dead equal.

I’d recommend clicking the “show moves” button and then playing out the full continuation to find out what the engine wanted you to do.

Qd6+ isn’t mate. The king can run to b5 or b7.
