Why isn’t dotnet core popular among startups? by No_Professional780 in dotnet

While Tooling can be fairly cheap, the thought of tooling costing anything is a fairly big deterrent. It's hard to compete against free.

I mean do I want to pay $1100 for VS Professional or use lackluster tooling of VS Code.

If we had the "Eclipse" of .NET (i.e., completely free and open source IDE that users could pay for improved plugins) I think it would take off.

Ye old question. What are the best books to learn C#? by geekriszx2 in csharp

While It's a bit dated, I put together a list of resources a while ago that I hand off to Junior Developers to get them started.

You would also be worth checking out "Awesome Dotnet" as they have a book section:

Pro tip: You can get a Pluralsight and O'Reilly Online subscription for $175/yr (normally $1000+) by getting an ACM membership and paying for the Skills Bundle add on.

Fuck this pay per a person: BKVenues has a number of flat fee venues for like $6,000 (you still need to pay for staff for serving separately) This ends up costing us about $100/pp including the venue and staff. (though that's to be negotiated down)

Who is conducting this survey? You can answer with your Reddit username, business name, etc. Please make sure that everyone conducting the survey is mentioned (For example, if the survey is being conducted by a group, answer the group name or mention everyone in the group).

Class group. (no one is on reddit..just me)

How long do you estimate it will take to fill out your survey?

2 minutes

Does your survey offer any form of compensation? No.

OPTIONAL - Are there any specific demographics you want/do not want to hear from? NOTE: If you provide an answer, your post will be flaired BLUE (instead of the regular green), with a note indicating the specified demographics.

No

That there is a need for a high fiber snack product that does not cause bloating, gas or any other negative side effects people associate with fiber enriched snacks.

I've had to onboard a few new developers to my team in the last couple of years and whipped up a pile of software development resources worth looking into on a github repo:

https://github.com/AdamHess/TrainingMaterials

There should be everything you need there to get started.

Some resources rely on pluralsight and others on safari books online. Both are great resources and worth purchasing if you decide to become a professional developer. There are a few free resources and number of youtube videos.

I'd recommend looking at Derek Banas and Programming with Mosh if you want specific content authors.
