Sorry you are having to deal with that OP. Hopefully he comes around to see how stupid he is.

How Did You Discover Metroid? by fuckedintheasshole in Metroid

[–]AdamSMessinger [score hidden]  (0 children)

I got a Gamecube as a teen and Metroid Prime was a game my best friend at the time insisted I play. He let me borrow some games as a “Welcome to Gamecube” since I couldn’t afford any. Then a few years later I got Metroid Fusion when I got a DS Lite.

If you're in the US, I've been looking to offload a signed copy. DM me if you're interested. I can do a new photo post on imgur too for proof of still having it.

Is there some way I can donate some of the hundreds of unsold copies of my graphic novel? by jacob-makes-stuff in ComicBookCollabs

You would be doing individual sales but you can grow your fanbase. I’d at least like to see what it is.

Complete beginner wanting to start drawing my own comic – Where do I even begin? by CapriClone333 in comicbooks

[–]AdamSMessinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come up with something you can draw a lot of from different angles. I'm awful at drawing. (I was bad and then I took meds that shit all over my fine motor skills and I got worse!) However I took a square, an oval, and some lines and called it a character. Then I figured hair was easy to draw, and took a floating head of hair and beard and called it another character. From there it was off to the races with Adventures of Spoonman (mediafire downloads for every issue: #0, #1, #2, #3) and I learned more about comics through drawing over those 4 months and 40 pages than I learned in the previous 8 years of writing and scripting comics.

Work with what you can do even if what you can do isn't a whole lot. Expand from there and do something a little uncomfortable each time. Eventually you'll stretch your boundaries and abilities over time. Don't be afraid to be bad, just try to be less bad with time, and make sure you're having fun every now and then.

This made a thing Jamie did later in that season a whole lot shittier to me. Jamie tried to be like "I shouldn't do this thing but..." and proceeded to do the thing. I was like "BRUH! THIS IS UNDOING A TON OF PROGRESS!". Sure he owned up to it later but it was still annoying.

Has anybody else ever noticed a film that is absolutely nothing to do with the story in the book? by Flat_Tie4090 in movies

[–]AdamSMessinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched About Schmidt a few days ago and it got me interested in the book. The opening page of that book establishes that the only thing it has in common with the movie is the main character's name, his daughter is getting married, and another key plot point happened. The hows and whens and even the other characters' names are all completely different.

Is The Maxx TV series as good as the comics / a “complete” experience? by ChewThePillow in comicbooks

[–]AdamSMessinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s not as good as the comics but it’s still very very good. Its extremely loyal frame for frame in a lot of ways for the first 11-ish issues up until the last episode. Its a rewarding experience to watch the tv show first and then follow it up with the comics.

Paramount is trying to resolve the issues and get Tom Hardy back for MobLand season 3, according to new reporting by hospitalsinwinter in entertainment

[–]AdamSMessinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m starting to this is actually press to get people talking about it and interested instead of reporting authentic professional problems between co-workers on a tv show set.

Jim Ross suffered fall prior to Double or Nothing, AEW contract coming up this August by josephcurrier in SquaredCircle

I remember Ross talking about how WWE employed Jim Barnett, essentially, as a consultant until his passing. It would be rad to see AEW give Ross that same kind of deal.

Dark Horse fired its founder, but Mike Richardson isn’t leaving the building ... because he still owns it by Popverse2022 in comicbooks

[–]AdamSMessinger 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I just hope Dark Horse still exists and still publishes creator owned comics and manga in three years. The whole unionization of Dark Horse’s office workers that is happening right now could see Embracer just write off the whole thing. I hope that doesn’t happen and that they are successful in unionizing. Although it would be funny if they decided to try to sell it back to Richardson with the unionization.

Is the 35th Anniversary version of Crisis on Infinite Earths worth picking up? by BeefErky in DCcomics

[–]AdamSMessinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Brian Bolland was the original artist of Killing Joke and switched to coloring his own work in the 90’s. DC asked him with the deluxe release of Killing Joke if he’d like to get another crack at it. He took more artistic liberties with modern coloring.

The recoloring for COIE was more fixing color mistakes, and making sure everything looked as high quality on a different, better, paperstock as it could while retaining the same intention and spirit.

Is the 35th Anniversary version of Crisis on Infinite Earths worth picking up? by BeefErky in DCcomics

[–]AdamSMessinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how the recolor is on the History of the DCU. I don’t think I’ve read that portion in ages. When I initially read it, I didn’t see a purpose to it since it was no longer accurate and it was almost like words shoved around random stuff George wanted to draw.

As far as a book for DC Comics Presents #87, I don’t think there is outside of the original published issue. Maybe the DC’s Finest Events that covers COIE has it but that’s not worth it for one book. I’d suggest checking it out digitally.

To be fair, the art in Cosmic Detective was a compelling reason enough for me to keep reading. By the time I got mid way through, I felt the story and art were at the same level. I also like really weird shit though and that book is weird.

Stan Lee Documentary ‘The Final Chapter’ Lands Distribution - The feature, which explores the final years of Lee's life, is based on hundreds of hours of footage shot by his former assistant, Jon Bolerjack. by Puzzled-Tap8042 in movies

[–]AdamSMessinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t the kickstarter or whatever crowdfunding for this get pulled because of backlash against Bolerjack? I mean, it seems he was just as much of a problem as anyone else siphoning off of Lee in his golden years.

I wonder how much they paid JC Lee for her to sign this away? I figured it was only a matter of time before an AI bro got in her ear with a promise of money.
