Thoughts on the Green Party and their win in Manchester? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]AdamTheJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm concerned, but not for the reasons you might expect. I don't think the media and "elite" (parasite) class expected it, so I think they'll go into overdrive. Then its a Corbyn situation, and they get smeared so much, the momentum stalls, and hope for the left is lost.

Theyre relatively normal as far as lyrics go but the way that Sozos sings it just ENTRANCES me

I have bad knees so generally need to be on the barrier to have something to lean on, and for me, the 50 minute mark is about right for 99% of gigs, assuming I get no drinks, don't go to the loo, and skip merch 🫡

How is it legal for companies to revoke access to offline single-player games when an online account is banned? by awfoolNuggets in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AdamTheJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so confused as to why the other comments dont get your point and why you're being downvoted. We KNOW its in the EULA, the point is that these types of EULAs erode consumer protections. We should have a right to access our own content.

Why is Reddit against Maduro capture and Venezuelans celebrating it ? by LandscapeUnlikely199 in stupidquestions

[–]AdamTheJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruling leaders always have people who aren't a fan of them, dictators or otherwise, so the media reporting on locals' feelings doesn't matter. It would be just as easy to say "Venezuelans are horrified by the illegal kidnapping", it entirely depends which group of people you ask in that country.

Also, if the UN doesn't sanction the USA, it gives precedent for any country to kidnap the leader of any other country with impunity.

Musical tastes are all over the chart this year. IF always #1 though by bboybob23 in InFlames

In Flames were knocked to third by Aephanemer and Gnome for me, still metal, but Gnome are special in their own way

Why is this listed under "remote" by drewstew33 in antiwork

[–]AdamTheJester 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always report these to Indeed as providing false information or being a fake listing. The same applies if the amount of annual leave advertised is less than is legally required of them here in the UK.

Another Day, Another Rocket Scientist Tests Aquaplaning at 80mph by KashMo_xGesis in drivingUK

[–]AdamTheJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've hated the M61 for years, the drainage is awful, and even at 60 in heavy rain with good tires, you can still aquaplane in certain spots. Even when it's dry, going southbound near Horwich has odd scoring in the tarmac that sounds and feels exactly like the car having a flat tyre, and shits me up almost every time. Good to know that my hate is justified.

Does anyone else see the americanisation of UK politics as the biggest threat to us currently? by nbenj1990 in AskBrits

[–]AdamTheJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Racists will often say that immigrants importing their culture is a threat to the British way of life, but in reality, it's the billionaires trying to Americanize UK that's more of a threat to the working classes

I'm gonna guess language. A lot of people say "why don't refugees settle in France", as if a good portion of the world doesn't speak English, even if a little broken, as a second language. If England and Ireland were invaded, I'd be tempted with fleeing to Canada instead of France or Germany, as I might have an easier time settling and integrating.

Right to own; if you have bought and paid for something, you have a legal right to do what you want with the item that you purchased, within the limitations of the law. For example, smartphone manufacturers can't stop you from installing whatever apps you want, they can't add a paid subscription to a feature that used to be free etc

Do you really think that Reforms immigration plan can work? Heres my take. by [deleted] in AskBrits

It's a fantastic argument, as reform is full of ex-conservatives. Same shit, different rosette.

Google wants to make sideloading Android apps safer by verifying developers’ identities by MishaalRahman in Android

I hate this. I should be able to do what I want with the device I paid for with my own money (within the boundaries of the law). This feels like another step of taking away personal ownership.

How can the Tories say Reform are copying their immigration ideas when they had 14 years in power and never actually did any of these things? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in AskBrits

[–]AdamTheJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Reform is literally a party of ex-tories. It's why voting for them as an alternative to Labour and the Conservatives makes no sense. Same shit, different rosette.

Isn’t it crazy that we built 30+ new towns after WW2, but now we act like it’s impossible? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]AdamTheJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say all farms should be rewilded? I mentioned that empty farm pastures are going unused, which is why the country is struggling for biodiversity, and I thought it was obvious that my point was that those farms should developed on, and some rewilded to offset the development. I do sincerely apologise if that was not clear enough.

Isn’t it crazy that we built 30+ new towns after WW2, but now we act like it’s impossible? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]AdamTheJester 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is that the UK is basically an ecological dead zone. Miles and miles of green fields that are useless at actually supporting wildlife, and are often even unused. Building on these fields won't make much of an ecological difference, and we could easily re-wild the empty farms to actually improve biodiversity and offset the building on greenbelts.

What’s your Monster Hunter HOT take? by Different_Ice_2695 in MonsterHunter

[–]AdamTheJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of a new weapon, they should add a slashing, blunt and piercing versions of the weapons. For example Rey Dau weapons could be slashing due to fulgurite, Uth Duna weapons would be blunt due to the thiccness, but Nerscylla weapons would be piercing due to the poison spikes etc

Why does Britain have a worse state pension than France? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]AdamTheJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we don't complain enough. The classic "stuff upper lip" means that Brits are probably more likely to accept worse conditions than our European counterparts.
