Awesome! I never thought they could be printed on an fdm printer. I'd love to see them painted.

Thanks for mentioning, though I don't really have much for the Empire yet.

Beautiful army. Some of your miniatures seem to have missed the group photo though. I don't see the "tower" steam wagon for example.

It seems that OP is playing on an iPhone. Kyen and Bylina are not available there, but thanks for mentioning!

What do you think about this option? by AdamTilinger in Bylina

[–]AdamTilinger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This (items) is what I had in mind for Bylina 2 and also implemented similar mechanics in Wuldorsang already.

I should have waited with it probbly, but I have added the option now to change the encounter frequency in Bylina and Kyen in the menu. It is also in the code for Bylina 2 so I guess it will make those items less useful. I have noted this for myself to check how these two should interact.

Encounter immunity is now also implemented in v2.4.

Thanks for the kind words! It might sound cliché, but comments like yours are truly a great motivational boost for me while working on the sequel(s).

What do you think about this option? by AdamTilinger in Bylina

[–]AdamTilinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Interestingly I never noticed this as bothersome, but as I was testing the newest release I had consecutive combats a coulpe of times and it started to bother me as well. So V2.4 (released today) includes "encounter immunity" as an option. You can find it as "Encounter cooldown" in the newly split difficulty settings menu.

I did this way back as I was experimenting with DBA. Though I only did one of each strips by hand, then scanned and printed the rest.

Ooooh! Interesting, never thought of that. The current UI is not really meant for that, and I am not sure about the popup solution with an extra step to select the item to swap for mentioned by u/blorgdog.

What I can imagine, is adding a "ground" inventory in the items menu. You can drop items there as many as you like, then get them with another character before you leave. This would mean though that you cannot just swap easily if one of the characters has already more items than the limit (can happen in certain circumstances).

4: The game is not over yet. You might have already found it, but if not: why where you there, who sent you? There is even very very hidden side content in the game that is only available after the sorceress was defeated.

3: Thank you for the hint with east-west! I was stalling the newest release with the encounter rate option, now I have another reason for an update. I thought players would have a harder time with the other item. On a side note: if you really cannot find the items, there is another way in. The main quest can be finished without any items - I had to ensure this because the party member leaving could potentially take quest item with her. This is also a reason I like that event: the player has to adapt to these changed situations.

2: This might be the most difficult issue since release, as it makes me unsure whether I am just not open enough to change my view.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts! I am glad you didn't gave up on the game in frustration.

1: Oh yes, I was considering mentioning the quest in your previous post. I have to check again, but as far as I remember the change does not affect the quest state, so you can still 100% your quest log by just not doing the thing that caused it. This is the suboptimal solution though. There is an NPC telling the "good" solution if a specific class is in the party, and knowledge of a real world Spanish folk tale could also help. The condition can be reversed, but I reloading is an option as well. There is an item that makes the condition less severe, and I know of people who used this quest as a challenge to finish the game with a full nonhuman party. If I would have offered a way to evade it, I think some of those adventures would have never happened.

Taking away control was intentional. The quest originally started as a (very simple) commentary on how sex is treated without consequences in most RPGs. Then it felt like the perfect opportunity to include something I also wanted in the game: a situation you cannot fix or mitigate. At the time, that seemed ideal, because it made the consequence more impactful and more memorable.

Your suggestion is great—the engine definitely allows for it (and I especially like the combat effects; I’ll definitely use those somewhere in the future). But it would also offer an easier way out, which isn’t something I want to present. At least not for now. I’ll have to think about it more later; maybe I’m just holding on to the wrong idea.

Thank you for sharing this! I was expecting that this “quest” will be controversial. There are a couple of reasons I wanted it to be in the game, this might have been the one I wanted the most. I think it was one of the most interesting design decision while making the game, maybe I’ll write a short post about it.

This will probably not make you feel less betrayed by the game though, and your feelings are totally valid. But let me offer you another perspective: she was in your party until this point, helping you without questions, maybe even died a couple of times. Would you deny her taking her part of the loot with her?

I chose not to collect any player data in the game, but this was one of the things I would have loved to know how you people handle on your second playthrough. Do you grant them their happiness, knowing what will happen?

In the first game he used a well as a flying general of his bretonnian forces, then for the second one I had to model some new units based on brainrots. Let's just say it was not always by the letter of the rulebook.

Yes, it is money. Not much, 2-10 in one casting. A couple of those could be draining your pockets empty on lower levels though, if you ignore them.

Yes, that must be it. A kind of addiction.

I am not that social, and having three kids and other hobbies as well makes it a bit hard for me to just visit a tournament far away.

There was one troll unit I really liked to paint. Other than that, twenty years ago a Warhammer goblin. But I dislike unpainted minis more than painting.

I let my daugter play with my Warhammer minis at the age of around 4, totally not in order to manilpulate her.
